You have to pick through the poo to find in your heart of hearts what you believe is the right gamble/risk to take that applys to any cross be it f1 or scatter bred Lurcher to Lurcher mixes. look at my white bitch that didn’t make it for me bred from the right gear that could do the job but didn’t make what I was after quite a few people that see her run said she’s a decent dog but I didn’t feel she was as my expectations were different because I know the breeding and via the previous breedings capabilities

Read my post again it says what mine is doin now ,and you also know my way would always be lurcher to hound and hound to lurcher , that’s just just I’ve done lurcher x lurcher many years ago it can throw all sorts, that’s just me everyone is different

mate if you put a whippet your bitch still be producing skatter breds what ever way you look at it as you’ve added another ingredient in the pot can throw all sorts you could get rough/smooth dogs that look like greyhounds dogs that look like none peds or whippets dogs that look like beddy greyhounds dogs that look like beddy whippets you could end up with short roach back dogs long back dogs, good feet shit feet. Mate no ones different we all the same ??

Wouldn’t you expect a more uniform litter putting a first cross back to running dog? ie whippet or greyhound. less in the mix than lurcher to lurcher?

I think nothing is guaranteed Fred no man could say what the outcome would be accurately it’s all a gamble ....be it a f1 to whippet or greyhound or Lurcher to Lurcher breds many people have different ways of what they look for in a pairing some breed for looks some for type some just for the job they want or expect a certain cross to do I think the gamble on your odds is all the same

Would the working terrier crosses not be a better shout ?

You have better chance if beddy an greyhound is working bigger the greyhound the better , if beddy bushing up fox an get stuck I'd use it but finding a full working beddy to ground be the hard part or use one with bit of fell or lakey in them

Morning, taken a step back from quad bikes and hounds - Don’t need the grief anymore. Having moved house my country has changed, curious of those that do hunt the hills with their lurches and a terrier at your heel, how do you bring them on? Getting the right dog for the job is no brainier but what about the training? Thanks.

      **sorry for the double post**
I know I'm probably going to get the piss severely ripped out of me for asking this, but
Has anyone ever successfully trained a deaf lurcher (from two working parents and I own her 4 year old sister who is an awesome little bunny basher.)
Genetically she has potential, but...what do you experts think?
She's not a Double merle by the way, it's extreme piebald/white head. Her vision is perfect
