Guest MOLLY
Have an auction? People can donate things they dont want....ie, dog leads, ornaments, unopened aftershave or boxes of chocs. Absolutley anything. Not tatty stuff though. I will organise it, if people send me the photo and description of item, i will ask Ian to make a seperate section just for the auction, i will do the posts then it is down to individuals to bid on the post of the item they want. The postage can be negotiated, either the person who donates can pay, or they can put in the description that the winning bidder pays. All procedes will go to Ian for the running of this forum, then hopefully everyone will be happy, you are not feeling obliged to become a donator, people can get rid of unwanted pressies etc and everyone has a bit of fun bidding. Money can be payed via paypal or personal cheque. What do you all think? The lurcher rescue forum has these about 4 times per year to raise money for vets fees etc and they go very well. Moll. Guest MOLLY
Thank you c2c, if this gets off the ground that is a very generous offer I think i will need at least 20-ish people to post on here expressing a positive and/or offering items for the auction, otherwise it will be pointless starting. NIGHTSHADOW 3
I first want to say how much I enjoy this forum & I really appreciate what is available. Ian does a fantastic job. On the subject of the cost of running it, I don't want to appear a misery or a skin-flint as I am more than happy to pay an annual charge. If there is a charge everyone has to pay. The auction idea is good but then it is only those that either sell or buy or both, who contruibute. Others can carry on making the most of the forum at no expense. From looking at the star system for those who donate it would seem there would end up a minority paying for a majority. There is clearly a lot of people who don't even donate. There is already the classified site, why not have a charge on that for selling &/or buying rather than bring in an auction. I would hate anything to happen to this forum, it is very addictive, I am on it everyday & used the classified service often. I for one would personnaly like to thank Ian & the moderators for all their hard work. N S
Guest MOLLY
PLEASE dont let this get into the same slagging match about donators, this thread is not about that, it is about having a bit of fun whilst raising some money for the running of the forum. If people want to join in they can, if they dont, then they dont, doesnt matter to me or i am Sure Ian, either way. The forum will continue to run, regardless if 300 people or no people donate. Now PLEEEAAAASE can we stop bickering on at least one thread FFS, relax and chill :drag: If people dont think the auction is a good idea then i wont organise it...majority of opinion will decide Moll.
