Theres also medical proof that long term use of ibuprofen and quite a few different anti inflammatories is really bad for you.Really bad for your stomoch and digestive system.

Tried acupuncture, tiger balm, hot baths, heat pads, freeze sprays, tramadol, diazapam, deep medical  massages , had 6 months of physio after my accident.... Acupuncture worked for a few months, trama

Cheers buddy I went to a chiropractor this after noon only to be bent and twisted in positions I wish I would of done 20 years ago  ?I could hear and feel things grinding and cracking she said I will

Windolene is the best bet mate.

It went as in what went?

I can't really comment as I only went the once when I had a sciatica flare up.

I think the best bet is to do exercises and stretches that work your core.

Pulling my trousers up then felt like a massive shock in my lower back and I could hardly walk for a bit, just had to collapse onto the floor lol.

Been loading up with ibuprofen to get through work but don't think its a good long term solution

Bag of Frozen peas for as long as you can tolerate followed by a hot water bottle, you have pinched your sciatic nerve, when the pinched nerve is released it will be bruised and swollen and hurt for a week or two, hot and cold work as well or better than most other things ?

The “best” is dedicated anti inflammatory tablets, 500mg pain killers and total rest until it subsides.

One Of those support belts from the chemist is also a very good tool while you are letting it heal for just getting about to the kitchen, big etc.

Only when it’s healed do you stretch prior to anything that could make it flare up.

Theres plenty on YouTube for dedicated back stretches ?

Its a killer, believe me, I know.

I never went down the tablet route with any of my flare ups tbh and kinda did think the stretches worked.

This is where I think a diagnosis is essential mind, I should really book myself in for a MRI scan but I don't believe I've got a slipped disc, there's another condition called piriformis syndrome which I believe causes my flare ups.

Luckily for me I haven't had a bad flare up in quite a long time now, the odd little twinge mind but nothing as bad as before.

Like you say, it’s hard to advise until you know how serious it is.

My last attack levelled me for 10 days +…….I actually couldn’t walk and I’m pretty good round a bit of pain generally speaking.

Touch wood it’s less frequent now because I know how to manage it and I recognise the warning signs.

Better off getting it seem to so you can fit a treatment plan around the condition.

Tbh I hope mine is piriformis as it's easier to manage and with the right treatment can be cured, herniated discs are much harder to cure.

20 plus years of shifting tons and tons of kit around has worn mine out…..I don’t need a doctor to tell me the obvious mate although I do take your point.

If there’s no obvious reason then see a quack, that’s good advice ?

Theres f**k all they can do ultimately, but you can get a decent prescription of anti inflammatory drugs and that will last most people for ages if they need them.

A fcuked back! ?

I still think barring surgery the treatment for a herniated disc and piriformis syndrome is the same.

The problem with a disc problem though is i should imagine you can cause even further damage if you don't get it seen to, piriformis is only an inflamed muscle pressing on the nerve.

Have been told it may eventually explode ?but on the plus side the nerves are so damaged I don’t feel much pain anymore walk with a limp and fall over quite regularly but other than that fit as a fiddle ?????
