Wolfdog91 7,233
Finally got most of the stuff I felt I need to start casting my own bullets. Made my first small run tonight. Didn't even get half way though my 10lbs lead pot and have close to 100 or so .225 dia 55gr bullets. Just gotta do a quick sorting after they dry then they get powder coated ,gas checked and sized. Hopefully I can get good at this because if my calculations are right I can get about 127 55grain bullets per pound of lead, would really be a money saver at least for plinking ammo Anyhow just figured I'd share, I'll let y'all know if they shoot well or if I end up wasting a few pounds of molten lead on my self either or 7 Quote Link to post

Hoping they groups a most 2" @100yd would be good plinking ammo but if I can get sub MOA @100 I'll be over the moon lol. As far as my oven is just a cheap little toaster oven. Think I paid like $30 for it. I actually just finished editing the casting and powder coating videos and I'll try to up load them later today, or tomorrow for you I'm not sure it's 2:18 a.m. over here ,o the joys of being a YouTuber Edited January 7, 2021 by Wolfdog91 1 1 Quote Link to post

Its 09:23 here Yeah that's the problem with cast in a AR and semi autos in general. Traditional cast at least. With the powder coat ,a metal gas check and a harder BHN lead (most traditional his only use like a 10-12 15 tops but I'm staring out at 15 and with the water quenching hopefully I can end up around 18-21) I should be able to push them at higher speeds and pressures to get a good cycle.
