ianm 2,594
Yesterday i took my eleven year old grandson to the clay ground with his 28g auto because he hasn't been able to get much shooting done due to covid. On Sundays we always go to the game shoot to top up the feeders and clean the drinkers etc. This week we had to fill all the wheelie bins up with bags of wheat, one ton of it. Anyway he got the job of loading the quad up and bringing the bags to us waiting at the woods. He had a good day riding about on the quad. We decided we would go to the ponds at the other side of the shoot to flight ducks tonight. All these ponds are fed for wild mallard and teal. The pond we chose is a bit hit and miss really. We shot it a couple of weeks ago and got two mallard. Well tonight was a different story, the mallard came and we both had some good shooting. I shot six and my grandson shot six with his little 28g. I can't believe how well that little gun kills. I have fitted the half choke in it and he was killing mallard you would of been happy to kill with a 12g. The little Lab bitch had a good workout and retrieved all twelve back to us. We could of shot a lot more but stopped shooting as we had enough, a cracking flight for a change. 19 Quote Link to post

The anticipation, the disappointment, and then sometimes as it did for you and the youngster it goes well . I think you might just of ignited a lifelong interest in shooting there . Duck flighting is the best you end up coiled like a spring during that magic change of light. Around here the snipe give off there little noise a few minutes before hand 1 Quote Link to post

Meece 1,958
A good flight. The 28 is good. We shoot ours early afternoon, feed the shallows and let them come back in to feed at dusk. We shoot it every week. we chuck the rabbit paunch in the shallows also. They seem to like all that sort of stuff. Anyway they keep coming back. PS. someones got a bit of plucking to do.! Edited December 22, 2020 by Meece 1 Quote Link to post
