The only round pillars I’ve built have been around a round steel wind brace set in already .Just a case of measuring off pole to edge of  each brick face .If it’s a square brace you make up a half moon template to move up every course .Did a beauty down in Yeovil years ago that was 4 foot diameter ,Old English Flemish bond .Piece of rope loosely tied around pole to run round for brick face .Those are the sort of jobs I like rather than running in the line .Small pillars require half bricks to get the tight circumference .

If it’s offset twists your on about ,a wooden template set upright would be better to the touch face against each course .I’m guessing your talking corbaling rather than cut squints .

Ah fair play.im not up to speed with corbaling or squints to be honest..I've only ever seen 2 spiral pillars really eye catching..they were like these..

It is weird I can't see how they could make form work in that shape..

They have obviously built the 2 sides separately and cut the 2 middle courses to fit.

I think trying that with a hangover wouldn't be fun lol.
