Just wish their was more help in getting some with autism into the workplace everybody comments on how polite my 20 year old grandson is and has a few good mate's around him .

One of my best mates has 2 out of 4 kids on the spectrum and they're both my best mates. Love them but they do struggle. The young lad was doing karate and it was a Godsend for him. The lass is a bit more scatty but is more able to cope with certain situations. Both have coping issues though, such a shame because both have amazing qualities and skills.

Wasn't there a YouTube video of the shopkeeper letting an autistic kid help him once and the kid got a part time job....

The avoiding eye I'm not interested lol.

What about clothes label's.every single piece of clothing has to be de labeled in our house.

Even that little ball type thing on the toes of socks. Many a time they cut the labels off brand new tops and a big hole in it then lol.

Oh mate, tell me about it ! ?

One of the things I find hard is that my little lad can’t do team sport.

He just can’t deal with all the people and the demands that just naturally come from getting coached at team sport.

He says to me “I’d like to dad but I can’t” , feel so sorry for him in those moments.

However, I take him every now and again and ask him if he wants to join in, he never does but you never know one day he just might.

Like a sensory overload mate.hes a young farmer in the making I think ?

I once took Tom to football practice Blackburn rovers had a few coaches there a goalkeeping coach with the same name took him under his wing at a corner a another coach was telling this kid stand on the keeper block him anyway Tom had a jens lehmanns moment and threw him in to the back of the net we had to stop him after that he didn't want to go back yet he's totally different in the boxing gym he takes money at the desk chats with all the other lads it's like he's totally comfortable there

That’s lovely mate that he has a place he feels comfortable like that, as you know, it just has to be right for them and there’s no problem.

Were exactly the same mate whatever we say is taken as gospel and he can't lie or won't when he was at school he was bullied because of a tick wouldn't hit back till I told him in front of the teacher to hammer them which he did he's a big unit for his age and suffers anger management which we got the brunt off  because of his frustration of being bullied but like your daughter he's very wary or awkward with kids

And you done right mate.my lad was being bullied in school by 1 lad.

I told the next time he bully's you.squeeze your fist as hard as you can and punch him in the face as fast as you can..

Phone call the next day from the school to collect the lad.he had punched him in the face and broke his glasses.the lad didn't bully him again though..

Good I'm glad for your lad king fair play to him  but my lad went a bit further than that  and he doesn't know when to stop I think all of the bullying just came to a end at that moment

My little lad had an incident with a teacher when he first started school, as you know lads temper can be an issue.

They wanted him to colour in a clown, so he says “I don’t like clowns”

Now the inexperienced teacher tried to force him and he just coloured the whole thing black so he “couldn’t see it” as he said.

She told him off and he went and sat under a table.

The next bit was the mistake, she pulled him out by force and he went nuts, he was only 5 and he must have been terrified.

Two teachers physically removed him from the room  and he was lashing out to get away and they put him in an office !!
He must have been so scared.

They phoned me and I went and got him.

That one incident ruined school for him, he could not cope after that and that why we took him out and educate him at home.

I don’t hold it against people, they just don’t get that kids on the spectrum just see the world different and us “normal” people find that a hard thing to fathom.

We wouldn’t even consider it if we had never come across it.
