in my humble opinion ...and off the top of my head i dont think there are any subjects that cant be joked about...weather thats noncing kids ...race...religion...disabaled folk whatever.....i think most normal thinking adults can differentuate between comedy and real life...

it was one of the stand up comediens ..might have been chubby brown....that did a gig in mideslborough in cleavland .....some of you older guys might remember the cleaveland sex abuse case involving dozens of poor kids back in the 80's i think it was.....so chubby comes on stage and his opening line is.....im supprised to see so many of you here....thought you would all be home shagging your kids......that was the end of the show as well....he got all sorts chucked at him....

to me i thought that very funny...but i can see the difference between real life and comedy....

Good post mate, humour is historically how British people deal with horror.

Always have and hopefully always will.

Let’s have it right, grown blokes ogling teenage schoolgirls Is totally f***ing weird !

Using humour to expose horror, nonsense, politicians f***ing people over, hypocritical celebrities or whatever it may be is totally fine !
Humour let’s you speak the unspeakable !

Exactly right ,humour is the jester at court who can speak the outrageous unwelcome truth to a cruel king ,it gives the unsayable a voice ,,we fuk about censoring it ,and we all suffer in the long run .

Don’t think you can simply say ‘noncey jokes’.., are they wrong? Think you have to take every joke on its own merit and decide how funny/sick/inappropriate it is.., and each man will have a different take on it.

As for these jokes being in danger of ‘normalising’ child abuse, I’d say if anything it does the opposite. As been said, humour lets us speak about the unspeakable. Noncing kids has never in history been less acceptable. Think back less than 30 years, a 40odd year old Bill Wyman was knocking about with a 14 year old.., barely a word said. Can you imagine maybe Liam Gallagher getting away with that today? He’d be strung up from the nearest lamppost.

So the joke in question was a grown man leering over school children at a bus stop (correct me if I’m wrong)

where is the funny side of this? Yes we all have different sense of humour etc but surely there has to be a punch line of some kind?

im a father and Grandfather and There’s a lot of sick evil beasts out there.

Yeah no worries , theirs 2/3 lines of conversation in this thread that interchange all the time so its hard getting a grasp on whats happening

Which raises the point.  What was actually typed word for word ?   When people say he was leering at girls at a bus stop that just one guys opinion on the comment . And people are known to add layers of dramatics to other peoples comments to add weight to their own points

That’s a good and valid point, I remember the thread vaguely and recall a few getting there back right up (as you would) but personally I don’t recall the original post before deletion or edit. I don’t think many found humour in it all the same

To be fair, my comments are about OP which is a generalisation rather than something specific. Haven’t seen what you’re talking about (not sure I want to) so can’t comment.
