grompz 703 Posted December 2, 2020 Report Share Posted December 2, 2020 RIGHT LADS LOOKING FOR SOME SENSIBLE ADVICE TO CURE THIS RECURRING PROBLEM WITH MY YOUNG LURCHER, AT THE VERY BEGINING OF THE SEASON, HE WAS CHASING A RABBIT AND WHEN HE RETURNED HE HAD A DEEP CUT ON TOP OF HIS FOOT BETWEEN THE NAIL AND TOE JOINT, SPENT LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS USING SPRAYS,WOUND POWDER,DERMAGEL, AND GELS, GOT IT CLOSED UP NICELY, SHORT RUN AT THE WKEND AND OPENED UP AGAIN, TOOK IT TO THE VETS WANTING THEM TO AMPUTATE TOE,ARSEHOLES HAVE ONLY XRAYED TOE WHICH HE DIDNT NEED, AND BANDAGED IT UP, IN THE HOPE THAT THE TOE WILL COMPRESS IT SELF TOGETHER,DONT HOLD OUT MUCH HOPE, SINCE THEY f****d ABOUT DOGS LIMPING BADLY WITH BANDAGEON,ANY IDEAS WHAT TO DO. grompz 703 Posted December 2, 2020 Author Report Share Posted December 2, 2020 1 hour ago, socks said: If it keeps opening then it needs stitching together and bandaged up until it heals. thanks socks, but its right 0n the bend of the toe joint, not enough skin to stitch or staple the injury, had another bandage put on, these vets under the impression that it could pull it self together if kept covered for acouple of weeks,well hacked off that they didnt go ahead and take the toe off like i told them to, like all vets, will keep it going for coin,and then decide to amputate the toe,after ripping me off for a few hundred quid of useless treatment. mushroom 12,878 Posted December 3, 2020 Report Share Posted December 3, 2020 Sprinkle antibiotic powder in it from a capsule, strap the toe so it can't move (change at least 3 times a day) and put a lampshade on to stop it getting at the wound. You could also try taping it all around the toe, pulling the wound together. Again, change regularly and as socks said if it's open it needs air so this method might not be the best.
