Their saying the cutting vacine will still work, but the new strain is just more contagious, no more or less dangerous...

Who.knows...?‍♂️

i wonder what more contagious means....or rather how does that work...

are the individual virus bugs more efective at giving the cove to the person.....or do they fly through the air faster....or do they live longer outside the host....??

it would be interesting to know how exactly its more contagious

It would appear it is better able to infect cells so a lower dose would be required to get a positive infection, in simple terms if 1 in 10 old particles could cause infection with the old strain and 1 in 5 the new strain you would need lower contact times etc to get a positive infection.

https://khub.net/documents/135939561/338928724/SARS-CoV-2+variant+under+investigation%2C+meeting+minutes.pdf/962e866b-161f-2fd5-1030-32b6ab467896?t=1608470511452

its exactly what one would expect with a virus, what happens with the flu, a vaccine is the answer, we will likely need yearly doses to deal with which strains are current each year exactly like we do with the flu, this year the flu vaccine was against 3 strains

  • An A/Guangdong-Maonan/SWL1536/2019 (H1N1)pdm09-like virus
  • An A/Hong Kong/2671/2019 (H3N2)-like virus
  • A B/Washington/02/2019 (B/Victoria lineage)-like virus

each time you get a vaccine, the strains become like a book in your immune library ready to be read in case of infection, so the more vaccines you get the bigger and more effect your personal immune system is. I've had my vaccine yearly for many years so I've likely gotten immunity the the great majority of strains already. i will do the same with Covid, the 1st jab is just the beginning of the addition of a new section in my immune library.

Ps its a lot easier to tweak a vaccine to meet a mutation than it is to develop a new one.

Or the cynic in me says it’s to try scare folk into abiding by the extra Christmas lockdown measures after saying folk can have 5 days then Boris only 5 days ago saying it would be inhuman not to allow this .

What do they achieve by that if it’s not in the interest of wider public health ?

My grandfather used to alternate between a rollie , asthma inhaler and a pipe. He was a bit of a character maybe not in a good way , I'd still have liked to of known him better but probably predictable. My other grandfather died when I was one , spoke a myriad of languages, met Montgomery etc avid twitcher and liked grouse beating wish I'd spent some time with him for sure

Nice ramble. ?

Cheers, D.

So you believe God created the world in seven days but a virus can't mutate in space of a year

I never said it couldnt joe,is there not a process for mutation,if it's being resisted by something or something is attacking it so it has to mutate to survive?

What's the new name for this strain?
