Any lad who had teenage friends and frequented the pub would of had such experience.its called life..

Yes my intelligence did allow me to run a pork pie line for nearly 2yrs.as a stop gap from diggers and dozers.

But also my intelligence didn't make me turn on my work force and sack people unlike your good self.

And after you went home no doubt with a smug grin on and told your family.feeling proud that you had done such a thing.

And look where that got you.you was used by them above to do the dirty work.and once accomplished.you were also sacked..

And to be honest the best foremen and gangers I've worked with.wouldn't brag of sacking people..ever...

I love the pub . Dont go as much as before but went out for a few saturday night and it was great time . 2 mates started playing for a new football team which has 3 or 4 of my old teamates currently playing for them . Went down to watch them play their first game , back to my town and couple of the old teamates came back aswell . Started in the rugby club for a couple of pints , 1 guy absolutly wasted singing like crazy in there , 10 mins walk into town catching up on the news , few more in 1 pub , then on to another met a few more people , few vodkas , chat about old times , old games and teams we played against , the wasted guy still going strong making a racket till his phone goes and he sobers up in 5 seconds . Gets a ear bashing off his mrs on phone and dissapears into the night . Couple more then get a lift home with a [BANNED TEXT] from work who sorted me a christmas tree the next day.  Perfect night

Can only speak for myself but i couldnt live happily without a pub being available . My dads exactly the same. Im a social creature , beer loosens everybody up and creates a unbeatable atmosphere and feeling . Its not the beer i like (i dont drink at home) , its the crack with m8s . Its closest feeling i get to being a youngster with all my pals again

You know nothing about me ,I never turned on my staff but feel no regret at letting people go who are incompetent and cant do their job. Similarly I would always praise those that performed well. I have always been meticulous and accurate in my work , surely you should take pride in your work or pies Cant tolerate knackers though

The management felt no regret in sacking you either.so you must of also been incompetent and couldn't do your job also.

I wasnt sacked what dont you understand,  there was a restructure and 7 staff were made redundant due to income stream decreasing due to Covid. I always do a great job , might struggle making a pie though

What would I do.i used to encourage the line staff to eat as much cooked aberdeen angus beef chunks as they could from the 250kg drum.top quality meat that was used in M&S gastro pub pies.and the staff weren't earning very good money.i treated all 7 people on my line with respect..if we worked that line from 2pm till 10pm.i would encourage them to take a lb of it home for there dinner and to feed there wife's and kid's..

Mate people would work for 39hrs a week for a take home pay of £217 a week.

The line would rarely stop running so they worked hard for that money.

So folk earning that kind of money would struggle to pay for 1lb of cooked aberdeen angus chunks of beef.you would need a 2lb fresh lump to get 1lb of cooked meat.

Folk having that twice maybe 3 times a week isn't a bad thing in my book.

No wonder people wanted to work on my line
