Acorns

First time for everything so they say I was out ferreting yesterday and had a dig when I broke through it was straight into a nest full  of acorns I also noticed a large rat bolt so Got me thinking would these belong to the rabbits or rats ? Anybody else came across this before atb BB

Jay's store acorns as well but no idea where.

Rats mate, We did a long hedge that we've done for a few years about a month a go. I had a 3 foot dig and when I broke through I found the same for the first time on this hedge and it was the first time that we had bolted a few rats out of it.

Okay i think its rats as rats will share burrows with rabbits , Although squirrels will store them in scrapes etc i cant see them stockpiling them in a burrow , i think there no that bright to gather any amount in one place and a predator could pick them off each time they left the burrow so they wouldn't risk it
