I've had them detect it with lots of background light sources which I'm sorry to say for the panels sake blows the theory out of the water! Up close to a trail camera maybe due to the number of lad's and in close proximity. I dunno except for some of them are very smart indeed. I have watched them listening to electric fences and know exactly when to dart through! Maybe the panel can explain that? Yours truly A. Novice. Some of, well no all of the AS LED pilled i/r's are very bright even at great distances, I know because before i had thermal and more importantly trained a Lab to find foxes i used to leave the i/r shining on the area where i had shot the fox. I then used to walk "down the beam" with the aid of my n/v spotter to guide me onto the fox carcass. Lots of times i have looked back to the source of the i/r well over two hundred yards away and thought "sh** that is bright". 3 Quote Link to post

You could well have a point there 1 Quote Link to post
FOXHUNTER 5,021
There is no doubt that foxes can see IR , witnessed it many times. Many a time a fox has been coming in to the caller committed with my mate watching through his Archer with no IR , switch on the IR and fox bolts. They can see it and do react to it 3 Quote Link to post

Meece 1,958
Don't take any notice of anything that twerp Peckham has to say about anything. It is nothing. Now I haven't got the time or inclination to read through or try to understand any of this but here it is . He is a waste of space. 940 nm will certainly reduce the glow but it will also reduce the range, especially on rear add ons that rely on lots of i/r. Vcsel lasers if focused to a spot will take some spotting by a fox. 1 Quote Link to post

Sausagedog 7,381
Well that went better! But no cigar. I got fired yesterday so thought I may as well go sit for slinky2. She turned up on time, kind of ignored the little security light but did not go to the bait! Hence, never entered the shooting lane. She trotted past the light towards me and around the corner. I never saw her again and by 1AM I was falling asleep. The light kept coming on to a rat but that stopped around 11PM so I think she was about but not committing. I wouldn't be at all surprised if she recognises my car! Oh and it's a big fox. As in fat. It was good to see it and we are getting closer. Why do I get all the clever ones 1 1 Quote Link to post
