The apprentice foxers first lesson!

Recommended Posts

I had been meaning to buy one of those Hardox 500 fox targets for ages, so this week i did. They are really handy for zeroing/load developement of rifles at good ranges as you can see where you have hit.  My eleven year old (just) grandson wanted to learn to shoot the .204 so i arranged to take him this afternoon. The weather had turned a bit inclement actually, fine drizzle, but he still wanted to go. After a do and don't lecture from me i let him have twenty one shots. He did remarkably well really at one hundred and twenty yards. I will take him every week until he can consistently hit the kill area before i let him shoot the real thing.

Until girls take hold mate .My son used to be mad for it but now the girlfriend has taken over?

Could be worse a mate of mines  son who used to come beating is going out with a Vegan !! He has now turned vegan himself and says he will never come beating or go shooting again . All those hopes and dreams he had of spending frosty mornings down on the marsh after a Wigeon or two with his son as company , stalking their first roe buck  . I said you may as well tap him on the back of the head and kick him under a hedge , he’s ruined now .

I think George peaked too early mate .Shot 3 species of deer ,most of the pest species and game before his 15th birthday purely because he could tag along with me .I think finding your own way goes a long way to staying at it longer and getting more into it rather than quick fix ,that’s easy ,dads got the perm thing .
He still talks about wanting that fallow buck though mate .edited to say make that 4 species ,forgot sika .
