I work with alot of lathes and cranes they take no prisoners, the power of them is unreal.  One 2 of the cranes i work on has 2 motors for the hoist both running at 1000hp each    Watch

I find stuff like that ghoulish, can’t deal with it .

This is about my limit with health and safety videos ???

I saw that the other day it was horrendous.

You get accidents like that happen on oil rigs as well as there's also spinning machinery on the rig floor. Years ago I was having a smoke by the health and safety notice board and a picture caught my eye, it was the aftermath of someone who'd been wearing a harness but the connecting bit was trailing on the floor not attached to anything. He'd managed to get it caught in a spinning drum with a huge amount of power and dragged in. Just an arm and leg sticking out at impossible angles and a lot of blood. It was a disgusting sight.

They used to put photos like that up to try to shock people into taking safety seriously.

I spent a bit of time in an engineering shop years ago , I’ve got to say I hated every minute. I witnessed a guy de- berring a workpiece on a lathe with a Swiss file , the file hit the chuck and sent the handle through his palm into his wrist . He went white and was wandering around with his arm stretched out with just the point of the file sticking out . Some clever f@cker starts singing “ Spider-Man , Spider-Man, does whatever a spider can “ , a moment of hilarity in an otherwise grim situation .

the only thing I witnessed at the engineering place I worked at was a pressurised steel cylinder a fitter was  working on ..the thread on the end cap must have failed whilst he was testing it's hydraulic capabilities...the end cap fired off...hitting the rsj in the roof and then coming back down hitting him on the head...he was lucky it didn't hit him on the way up...I think it would have killed him ..if the dent in the rsj was anything to go buy...

Some poor sod in the county filled a tractor tyre with some other than air and it literally blew him to bits :( god knows what he put in it. The news reports it just blew under pressure
