HW97K 22 Pellets Information

Recommended Posts

I’ve got some land I shoot on and it’s a tale of 2 halves on the bottom half of the farm I can safely shoot my Firearms with not too much concern if I miss my intended target, and not worry too much as to where the bullet will end up as it’s got good back stops and is quite lengthy.

But the top half of the farm is a different ball game hence why I don’t shoot up there often but I was approached by one of the farm hands the other day who said it was running alive with rabbits so I had a look and he was spot on there is a lot of signs they are about and I did see a few as well, even when they were harvesting he said they were chewing them up.

But because it’s surrounded by horse paddocks and some houses I thoughts this calls for an air rifle which apart from my BSA cadet which needs restoration it’s an early 50s one I haven’t owned or used one in years.

Well cut a long story short I’ve acquired a really clean HW97K in 22 with Hawke Scope the full set up.

My question is what in your expert opinions would be the most accurate pellets to use in this particular rifle and what would you say maximum 40 yard shots what distance would you zero the scope in at.

Thanks in advance for any advice I’m just off to the gym to pump my arms up I’m going to need it wow it’s heavy ?.

AA diabolo fields ,zero at 25m or Falcon (same pellet imho).

Get some sticks to take the weight,  I used Seeland quad sticks or if on a budget 2x b n q garden canes bolted together will do.

Night time bunnies a t20 red lens will do nicely at those ranges atb

JSB RS, JSB express , superdomes are really good in my HW spring guns in .22

Superdomes are a proper wild card, my 97 shoots them well better than aa’s but they feel slack as f when I load them... me .22 hw 100 shot them better than any other pellet I tried as well

Si , superdomes gives me more ftlbs , in fact i had to strip it down and take out power washer , it went to 12.4 ftlbs , with most other pellets it’s around 11.4- 11.7

Thanks for the replies I will get a few tins of different types of the above to see what it likes best I’ve got a sling with it definitely thinking of some sticks the Scope it came with is a Hawke eclipse 4x16x50 AO IR, I’m used to shooting a rim fire but this piece of land is a bit risky.
