I would say this cage is a cat trap. The steel plate, hand guard kinda gives it away...

Looks like a Havahart collapsible trap to me I have one here. You will get squirrel in it as long as everything moves silky smooth with all the mechanism touch points.

Had one this morning mate in the trap like yours. Cheers Arry

Great yolk for cats.

What size is it roughly?

I caught a mink in one, back of my brother in laws. Was set for a shitty cat that was making a nuisance of itself. Bit of luck actually, because he keeps a few chickens.

Better off with a smaller one, if it is designed for cats IMO

Never got the cat, but it disappeared a few days later.

Got a British made, purpose built, cat cage here. 30" Long. 9" High. 10" Wide.

Got another one, different maker. Can't be bothered to drag that out. But, they're much the same dimensions.

First one's my user, as it's built like a fukking tank. It never fails 8)

King; Any idea where that trap originated? I don't recognise it as any British work I've ever seen. More US feel about it.

Oh! And, if you're after squirrels? I have an actual FC trap here. I'd be happy to provide its full spec's. Very tiny and simple design. Tool up. Make a ton of them. Sell them. Cut out the silly middle man shit ;)

I have looked for a makers mark on it but nothing.i was given it years ago.i was thinking it would be better in the woods than in my garage.

Yea I would be interested in the specs for that FC trap.ive got 3 new woods on perm so plenty of squirrels to go at.

I'd say that trap is actually fairly modern. Is it a collapsible trap? Is that a release door at the back, or am I mistaken?

Non collapsible.yes a release door with a wire bar pushed through to keep it shut..

Forestry Commission Grey Squirrel Trap: 18" Long. 4  3/4" High and Wide.

3/4" weld mesh. I don't know the gauge. But, probably about standard for 'aviary' mesh of that size?

Need a strip of thin, galvanised sheet. About six inches long. Just wide enough to fit between the holes of that mesh. Sorry I can't be more precise. My eyes and tapes don't mix too well any more.

In fact, fukk it. I'm sorry, mate. I'm just finding all this too hard to bother with. It's doing my eyes in, trying to get all the measures.

Just to point out that the door is of 1/2" mesh. I wonder why that is? Galvy strip goes one 3/4" mesh beyond the bottom edge of the door. Door is 6" long.

All put together with a few J Clips and a foot of galvy wire.

I imported my own J Clips, and pliers, direct from the states. Cheaper than paying a middle man to do it for me. Mug.

I'd take close up photo's, to demonstrate exactly how the 'factory process' works with these. But, I'm in Linux and so have no 'Paint' facility. I can't circle anything in red, or draw an arrow pointing to it.

Anyone seriously interested in knocking out facsimiles of this approved design? Ask me anything that isn't clear, or you can't work out? I'll do what I can on a case by case basis.

Right now, I want my dinner.

I would still give that one a go mate. I've used ones of that size in the past and have had good success. As long as the little shits don't stick there hands through the bars and drag whatever bait your using through it. Set the trigger plate nice and light and you'll be well away.
