a fen dog is a marothen runner and like marothen runners muscle is a necesity they dont need ... salukis are not muscle bound dogs for the pure and simple reason that after a prolonged distance run the lactic acid in the muscle would cramp the dog up and pull him short on a long run .... for the fens good stamina is the essential ingrediance .... lung power is key .......

however the lamp dog is a sprint master and like all sprint athletes by dint of their work they will build muscle as they are using their short twitch muscles ... rabbit spotted sprint out catch back ... rabbit spotted sprint out etc etc etc ... a lamp dog doesnt need the lung power of a fen dog ... what it needs is to be fit and have a quick recovery time so that it can go again in minuets .... a decently muscled dog will have a more explosive take of than a weak muscled dog and thats what a lamp dog needs ... explosive power ..............

yes you have it spot on there socks  but i was saying all dogs are different ....not all lamp dogs needs muscle in mass amounts .....and not all fen dogs are stream lined .....with no mass amounts off muscle ....ive seen fen dogs 3/4 saluki 1/4 lurcher with no bull in them built like brick shit houses ..and vice verser with the lamp dog ....

Right i haven't read the whole thread cant really be arsed.........

If your dogs are out doing all these rabbits every night why do they look unfit? Might just be the picks but from everyone iv seen not once has one of your dogs been ripped.......as it would be if it was out doing so much.......

Another thing........You say some times you drive with dogs following outside the car........n you run them alternate slips.........how the f**k can you control which dog runs........and how have you managed to train the dog to A know its turn to run and B to stand and watch another dog run with out it joining in???

Its good if you are doing these numbers.........but ya really cant blame people for doubting.......if ya shown 31 rabbits n didn't brag about how it was in an hour then id 100% believe ya......Your asking for your thread to get ripped to bits tbh....Maybe you are doing it who is to say your not........If you are then good on ya........just be more considerate to how you type your post and no one will think oat of it.........know one likes a bragger.......

I learned long long ago never to judge whats on the outside of the dog, its whats on the inside that counts!! Its what the dog can do that makes it as a worker, and what it can produce that makes it as a stud or a brood. Its very difficult in this age of shallowness and sensory bombardment not to let your eyes guide you. Yes to a certain degree, you can judge if a dogs in good condition or if it looks shiney, well fed, well muscled, but these things show nothing of the dogs true worth. Only the field proves that. Some of the best dogs I have seen have been nothing special to look at, even a little dull looking, no obvious WOW factor, no rippling muscles, nothing to make them stand out in a crowd. Then they start to run, and thats when you change your mind!

The same goes for people, or I suppose any living creature that has the power to surprise you with its inner qualities. Some of the most amazing and interesting people I have met have been hidden deep within what seems a dull or unattractive exterior, which is why I prefer to go on instinct rather than eyesight, there are more ways your eye can be deceived than anything else in life :toast:
