Personally I don't like an East Wind. A old saying " when the wind is in the East the rabbits bolt the least, when the wind is in the West the rabbits bolt the best".

How does a rabbit know which way the wind is blowing when it’s down a hole :D

I don't know mate but alway seem to get more lay ups when its in the East. I can't understand why they would not bolt just because its blowing in a particular direction. Was alway quoted to me by my father and other old boys.

I dont know about the weather affecting ferreting but when you have arranged a day out on your days off you got to give it a go

Does weather matter if ferrets up a rabbits arse coming out the burrow ?.

One thing i do more now is put another change of clothes in the back of the truck so its a dry clean drive home LOL

The best weather that we have found to be is on a calm day not to hot as it is unfair on the ferrets and the dogs. On a hot day we never seem to get any good results and the same on a windy day. When it’s wet and cold forget it I don’t like getting wet and freezing my but of.

I have two older ferrets that I doubt will survive this winter and I'll miss them when they go. I completely trust these two
The hob has outlived his litter brother by 2 years and the Jill a litter sister by 3 years and I find it's incredible that at 7 years old, long long past the typical lifespan of polecats in the wild, and despite their obvious tumours and associated thyroid swelling both those old ferrets are still keen to get out and do their thing very well 😍.

My little doe has finally had her kits around a week ago their mum is a great little hunter but also a great pet  she is proud of them and i have been close to them but still keeping a distance from them at this stage  hopefully if i can get 3 to 4 bucks for new stock I will be happy with that . My question is I have in the past put my young ones to work with their mum at around 6 months old is that a bit to early. Second of all I will keep one of her daughters for breading as milly is getting old  . With the older ones I will pass them on as pets as that are friendly when handheld but do hunt when they out to work . c
