Popular Post jukel123 7,957
Love an open fire. They always make me chilled. My first memory of one is when I was a kid before I went to school. My mam was breastfeeding my kid sister and I was staring out of the window watching the rain and listening g to the coals falling in the grate. No telly just silence. My old dear sent me to the shop with a list and when I got back I had dropped the ration book. Off I went to find it and when I did and brought it home, my mam gave me a home made scone with jam as a reward. I dried off by the fire and fell asleep. I still go wild camping and used to take my sons when they were kids. Nothing like a roaring camp fire and the sound of running water from from a nearby stream. Perfection. I thinks its something we used to do when we were cavemen. I recognise the feeling from my DNA. One of my lads used to insist in falling asleep by the fire and be carried up to bed, his face all blotched from the heat. He tells me he still does it at 45. Wouldn't like to carry him now. Long live fires. Edited November 6, 2020 by jukel123 27
