I’m talking about something that is really pretty basic but also requires some degree of attention to detail and pride in the finished article......that’s why the sweeping analogy works for me in my former world Most jobs, businesses or what ever have a way and a formula that works.....people who can’t follow basic instructions or put pride and care into simple things inevitably end up a liability in my humble opinion. If they were going to have some wonderful, innovative idea they would have had it and wouldn’t be carting 200 tons of kit out of some building at 3am for me ! Lol Like i said im not comfy getting into specifics but yes in that respect of course business is business....i was referring purely to the " sweeping up " analogy as from top to bottom it doesnt work....you see it used in textbooks and classrooms and it simply isnt the learning by numbers " how to manage people " concept its made out to be in my opinion. I didn’t realise is was actually used in books, I have not seen a school book since 1984 when they expelled me mate ! Lol

Lol In a few of my darker more isolated periods of life as a younger man i would flick through the odd " get rich quick " manual and the " sweeping up " analogy is pretty much the common theme running through those types of books/courses.....i quickly realised i just need to get better at what im already doing Edited November 8, 2020 by gnasher16

Ok mate. Your're going to set somebody a task to assess their character....they are then going to break the rules for their own gain....and you are then going to trust them with your money.............yes that sounds like something i might do !! Exactly, you don't ask a trainee engineer to sweep up the canteen do you. I hate it when older folks who often have been lazy cnuts themselves throughout their lives do shit like that in some little power trip piss take.

I don’t really know what I’m looking at but it looks very nice neat work round all the ends and corners pal, nice job Thank you mate, pretty simple box so details are fairly standard...that's where a lot of lads fail though, its easy slapping sheets on but finishing is a bit more tricky. When your planning in doing yours give me a shout, I'll help with advice if nothing else mate

We may be talking at cross purposes mate ,,I believe that setting someone a simple task and then watching how they go about it ,will give you an insight of that man's character ...I don't know anything about business or hiring people but if I was looking for a trustworthy chap ,then no I wouldn't hire the Hoover man ,but if for some reason I needed the services of ruthless ,to the point ,no fukn about with me ,maverick type ,then he may be in with a shout .
