I'm laughing at the idea you think thats what's needed and no one earns or can earn that on here.

When I worked in finance the general way of scaring people into investing (I never used the tactic) was to show them that to recieve a 30k a year, you needed millions invested, so that would be your interest return. Absolute bullshit! You can get all mentioned, house, car etc for a lot less than 170k a year ;)

I'd be very shocked to find out anybody on here earns 170k a year.

So come on then, what do you need to earn to get a 400k house and a 40k car along with two holidays a year.

Me and the Mrs are on over 65k a year with her working part time and I couldn't dream of anything close to that.

Life is what you make it lads .Anybody can hp these days .Finance to the hilt isn’t uncommon .I’d rather live within my means though, 4 holidays a year is plenty ?

Wilfs 100 notes an hour is doable but questionable if you’d get it permanently I’d say .

Wages in the building industry round me have unfortunately gone down not  up but few months ago brickies were getting £300 a day laying 450 bricks on average which is just a steady day for most .Right now ,at this point in time wages are in the region of £180-200 a day take it or leave it .

The big house ,big car has never appealed to me but quality hunting gear does ,that and making sure the kids are ok .

Wife  earns her own money hairdressing .

Ive mates who can’t even go for a beer ,things are that tight with finance and mortgage .Got to be more to life than work fecking  work .

Wtf are you spending your money on?

150k mortgage is around 500 a month (15-20 year mortgage), 400k around 1.5k monthly. Car on HP 2-300, plus bills, holiday a grand each. 2.5k a month. 30 grand a year (after tax) covers all that ?‍♂️

I don’t do anything really anymore but I used to buy and sell things and later that also encapsulated the logistics of getting stuff in and out and relocated around the UK and Europe.

I used to do very well before my kids came along but I gave up a lot of my hunger for work when they arrived.

I made a very deliberate and conscious decision to just do enough and spend all the time with my family, that cost me a few times.....there were weeks I only had £50 to see us out, but kids don’t care about that and the world turns, there were also plenty of times it was the other way so it evens itself out.

It evolved into short periods of very intense and hard graft and then I could sit back for a few months.

That suited me fine

I just wanted to live to the beat of my own drum mate, no amount of money can buy that but it can be hard sometimes......but watching your nipper play netball or football when no other parents can be there is priceless

I borrowed 120k 3 year ago and my payments are 540 a month.

A 40k car will be much more than 2-300 a month on HP, hell it'll be more than that on PCP.

I’ve just done two weeks in a leader development programme.

a lot of it was reflection on your experiences and how you are perceived by your wider peers .

when I look back to how I was treated , I was keen , reAdy  to work hard , do and achieve things . I think now how my and my peer group were developed We we’re very much drilled into the line of though.

at one point about 20 of us due to course qualifications and abilities , we were the highest paid group of private soldiers in the army. This was totally out with our control and we were hated for it by jncos . Why are they getting That ? To the extent that we were made to pay more for our food , and it was always threatened to have that pay taken away . It lasted for me about 9 years and we had a good crack at it. Cars , clothes , holidays , better kit , etc was just buckshee.

I got married and lost 15 grand a year instantly from My wages . A big f***ing hit from a young family . Squirrel red and screwed every penny until I had very little option other than to go on the credit.

just started reaching an even keel now , but the things I missed were a kick to take , weddings , holidays etc but the kids came first . Always .

now when I look back to a young Sapper me and think how was I perceived I cant grasp why we weren’t allowed to do things by old and crusty soldiers. They wanted us to fail.

I personally try to develop my lads as much as possible , to make army life interesting , it’s a big old world the army offers you and I’m going down the route of being a professional engineer,  the job role I’ll have have is a mix of transport manager , surveyor , project manager draughtsman and quantity surveyor .

it’s an office type sketch but for now , it’s the grind of putting on your boots and Bergman still.

the best plaudit I’ve ever received was last month when I met two Of the  lads I will be responsible in the new Year. They looked a bit down cast and said “we can’t wait until you come over to us”

little things like that make all the rigamorale of middle management worth it imho

Correct mate, around £65 an hour is the going rate for what I do on a long term project where you have to be there day in, day out for like 3 months to a year or something.

Most of my stuff is 1 to 4 weeks maximum , I’m sickened of the gaff after that ! Lol

A bit of that mate, it’s basically having the knowledge to complete a certain thing that is daunting to most but fairly straightforward when you know how to do it.

Its shifting a lot of kit in a very labour intensive way to the most profitable and / or environmentally friendly places in the shortest amount of time, normally to fairly rigid deadlines with big cost implications.

Your role is to advise your client, plan and implement, set the pace, motivate and look after your team, overcome problems if and as they arise and arrive at a successful outcome.

I also like to personally over deliver on expectation, it makes people feel a lot better about paying the bill ! Lol

That said, my happiest days was just buying and selling kit, dealing with everyone from traders to CEOs but again it’s delivering a decent product at good value where you earn plenty and they are well happy because they saved a lot and got something good.

The best business is where everyone wins imho
