Chopped straw

Went for a bale of shavings today n all sold out , so ended up with 20kg of treated chopped straw instead,  says its got alovera n tea tree in it or something , any one else use out similar  for there ferrets ? It dose smell nice ha

I have always kept mine in straw. Not fancy alovera straw though just normal run of the mill stuff personally think it’s nicer for making nests etc than shavings.

Not used anything thats got stuff added. But you say chopped straw it all seems to be chopped into about 100mm lengths like it's been through a forest harvester, what the f**k is that all about. The ferrets chuck it out every where. Pet shops, Morrison its all the same chopped, went around the farm got some in the end. I don't like this chopped stuff, it used to be quite good before to be fare.

Mrs and the girls use it at the stables, tried the ferrets and dogs on it... Ended up getting in the drains, was a b*****d to shift lol.

i got some by accident once...like the other have said its shit....

the best bedding for ferrets is straw....and shavings in the run....simmples

Been using it a few weeks now and no were nr as absorbant as shavings,  but its working well with my daughters rabbits as it seams to be rotting down quicker in the compost bin
