Heartbreaking.

Recommended Posts

It was only about a year ago when I watched an emotional video of the rugby league great Rob Burrow revealing he had Motor Neurone Disease, just seen the state he is in now and it is horrible.

Can't believe that it can destroy you so fast like that, choked up seeing him like that after seeing what a great talent he was.

My heart goes out to him and his family, poor, poor man.

A truly horrible condition that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.

I  saw that greb just shows we never know what's round the corner likewise my thoughts are with him and  his family I mentioned a lad I know who had a pro career he has the same disease and he's the same as Rob horrible to see

It shocked me after seeing how much he's deteriorated in such a short space of time.

I don't think doctors fully understand the disease but it wouldn't surprise me if it can be caused by taking blows.

Saying that you don't see many boxers suffering from it.

More research needs putting in to it that's for sure.

I've just been watching clips only 1-2 year ago and he looks fine, heartbreaking.

Life can be very cruel at times, god bless him.

I can sympathise with him because I'd sooner be in control of my own fate rather than let the disease destroy me until I'm helpless.

My mate said when first diagnosed with it , the day I can’t wipe my own arse I’m done ...and that’s exactly what he did .Its often said suicide is a cowards way out , I think , especially in his case that couldn’t be further from the truth ..as I said earlier brave man ..

When I was a student, I worked in a nursing home. There was a lady there, Joan. She had it, at 60 odd years old. Fuucking broke my heart, poor girl was totally compus mentis, yet her body was killing her. I'll never forget the 2am call I got (after I had changed jobs) saying she'd passed.... drowned by her own body. Fuucking awful disease.

With stuff like that it isn't, I've always said to myself I would do the same if I ever got something incurable. With that evil disease I don't think anyone has ever made a recovery so you have no chance of a miracle.

Seeing the state he's in I'll be surprised if the poor soul sees another 6 months, like I said I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

Watched a ‘trailer’ for tonight’s programme on Breakfast this morning, that was enough for me. A few sportsmen up here have succumbed to it, or will soon. Big Doddie Weir (ex-Scotland Rugby Union international) can’t have long left, but has met it head on with the same tenacity as Burrow has.

Fcuking horrible and often lingering way to die, and especially cruel that such a strong and proud man has to be reduced to that in front of their wife and kids. As been said, wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.

A serious shame whats happened to the poor lad. He has a big fighting spirit a fantastic player small stature but a big heart. Played for a rival team to me but you couldnt help but admire the lads skill very brave on and off the field.i just watched the first 30 seconds of the vid too much for me heartbreaking.

My dad has mnd and it’s fckin horrible to watch . He was a strong bloke but started having the odd fall a couple of years ago and nobody could find out why . I think at first everyone put it down to his age so it took a while for the doctors and specialists to find the actual cause and in just that short space of time he’s gone from living a normal life to being in a wheelchair and you can hardly tell what he’s saying . The speed of the deterioration is pretty quick and he hasn’t even got the worst version of it , he’s got the same as Stephen hawking had .
