The versatile Kelpie cross

Recommended Posts

Saw this buck squinting just after the rut nothing unusual in that it's bound to happen when you're battling with other horny critters over females.

He disappeared for a few weeks today he turned up and I decided he was a good animal for the table, interesting to see his eye had completely gone and other than that injury he appeared to be in good health. I shot him with the 22-250 at about eighty yards he walked about five yards and dropped so I didn't need the dog but I always like having her there just incase.

I've come across a Fallow buck with the same problem, in good nick but no eye one side.

It's surprising what injuries animals gets over, took a hare with a comparatively decent sized wound on its side that had maggots in but was pretty clean and healing and the hare itself was plumb and healthy looking so recon it would have healed in the next week or two if it hadn't got up in front of the dog.

The wounds and injuries that wild animals can live with and recover from are incredible, you have to be pretty tough to make it wild ??. Human beings used to be pretty tough but in my opinion the majority have gone soft, Covid proves that with bells on!

you might have something in that mate , people were deff tougher  from  our last 2 ww's , but them lads and women who went over to fight in the Falklands  war 1982 , were brave tough people .But this feckin Covid 19 virus takes no prisoners  , the young will be ok, us old feckers will be wiped out in time  it will slow the population down  world wide, and bring back age 3 score and 10 , not like now where old people were living longer fact , hope i make 75 with bit of luck , i am 68 now . !
