Barf diet

I was just wondering if there is any guide any of you use to feeding dogs barf as in weight of dog per weight of food, like they recommend  on bags of dry food.

Usually I give a decent amount of dry food with meat, i am going more or less try barf only for a few weeks just to see how the dog gets on. I will ad handful of dry food perhaps one day a week as I feed twice a day when working the dogs through the winter months.

There all different trig 1 mine can fatten on a chicken wing the other could eat the whole chicken and still look ribby just got gerra feel for it like

No need to add anything if you are feeding barf,plus id only feed an adult dog once a day and miss 1 day a week.The amount you feed will depend on the weight of the dog and how much graft it gets,rule of thumb for me was if the dog was getting to fat id feed it less and eventually you will get a balance.The quality of the barf is a major factor,what is in the barf you are giving the mutt?.

I’ve messed about with all sorts of different diets & I’ve settled on Millie’s Wolfheart peak performance with chicken mince. Best I’ve seen the dog’s looking to be fair they’re holding weight and the couple of outings I’ve had my young dogs ran well so can’t complain.

I feed my dogs breakfast in the winter as well I think unless you’ve got a dog with a slow metabolism when you’re working them hard you really can’t get enough in to them.
 

As far as BARF is concerned when I was feeding just meat I gave a mix of everything something different every night and dog did ok on it. Had to stop that though because he started to get fussy and would only eat certain things and leave others.

I think I read somewhere that, as a rough guide, feed 3 to 4 % of their bodyweight per day. However, as Black neck said, every dog is different. I have two kelpies who are cousins and they're identical in height (and my wife can't tell them apart). One was injured in an rta and so has less exercise as his stamina is far less than you'd expect from a kelpie. Despite this, he is fed more than the younger one. Off the top of my head I think they're around mid 40s lbs (about 20kgs) and they have between 600 and 800 g per day (depending on how far I'm expecting to walk them etc) but the older one gets all the extras, in terms of household leftovers...the younger one occasionaly has a dicky tummy so rarely chance it with him.

It is aye if you buy 6 bags at a time it works out about £43 a bag, I’ve never bothered with those high end completes before but the 30% fat thing swayed it for me, anything that can keep the weight on mid winter is a handy thing and saves f***ing about with lard etc

Good man sounds like good stuff I don't think I'd need it just for the occasional walk round like

It benefits the type I keep mate the saluki blood can make it hard to keep a good back on them at any time of year to be honest. If I fed it to my spaniels they’d be fat as f**k within a week. It can’t be bad stuff like my male dog can be a bit fussy, wouldn’t touch any other biscuit but likes that stuff so I just stick with it
