ive always worked mate, and to be honest, I new the price of the aids, and I new both ears needed aids, and because of my age I thought they would fob me off, in fact I asked just for the one ear to be treated but they said no, so I didn't argue ,

When I was at school I was in the shooting team and the blokes who ran it were all fairly deaf and they insisted that we all wore ear plugs ( ex small arms instructors).  But over the years of work and shooting my ears suffered.  The Mrs kept moaning about the fact that I kept misunderstanding what she was saying. To me it was her fault because every time she was saying something she seemed to turn away or walk out the room and I  never got the punchline.  Mumbling bugger.  I recall a public information film clip about a bloke who was in company and a joke had been told but he didn't get the punchline and had to join in with the laughter even though he didn't have a clue what the joke was about. Eventually she got me to go and get me tested and I  had the plugs fitted. I'm not that impressed because sound sems odd.  A sparrow is so loud that it's on my shoulder and it hurts but other sounds are not there.  The tv is quiet and I turn it up and then it blair's out loud, I get told to turn it down.!!  I can't hear it. She still talks and turns away. .. she still mumbles,,, says me.  I'm  booked in for another testing.  Still it don't affect my shooting, had three days this week no difference there, and the dog works by hand signal and bicuit control . So that's most of life sorted.
