Maybe the low tens of thousands of years right? Whereas the hominids that went on to become Neanderthal left Africa hundreds of thousands of years before Sapiens did. We've established what you are by the THL peer review system. Ketchup will inform you in due course. Expand First bit completely agree. Neanderthal, Denasovian, came from Australopithecus, who left Africa a couple of million years ago... but so did we We just had to evolve different. There was an interesting article about 10 years ago from China, they were trying to prove a genetic direct link to the waves of Australopithecines and prove chinese/Asians were a seperated human species. Totally proved wrong through the genetic markers (paternal and maternal) but they did come out with some very weird results Second bit..... wtf? For that matter so is the actual definition of 'species'. Generally these days the production of fertile offspring isn't considered necessary. Hell, if you really want to open a can of worms, what constitutes a life-form is up for grabs still. Viruses for example go from life to death with the scientific winds! Expand Where do we draw the line though? I know we have such classifications but is there actually such a thing as a subspecies? It's true that species have different adaptations to suit their habitat but are they really a subspecies? You only have to look at animals like Tigers, Leopards etc.

Francie 6,368
The only differences is physical, to the eye, the rest is just conjecture, but how does this equate to the missing link?

WILF 48,246
Interesting stuff from all you folks with big brains. Heres another question, I wonder what led each group down such different paths ? So, your European has really taking his potential a long way and your sub Saharan African has barely changed ? Brain size maybe?.......that bit of extra volume meant a lot ? I wonder what it is ?

I'm not a neurologist, as I understand it, human brains are all (roughly) the same size. Neanderthals had bigger brains
