Yeah but in the grand scheme of things the successive waves of Sapiens were too close together to have given time for much divergence to have occurred. Maybe the low tens of thousands of years right? Whereas the hominids that went on to become Neanderthal left Africa hundreds of thousands of years before Sapiens did.

We've established what you are by the THL peer review system. Ketchup will inform you in due course.

First bit completely agree. Neanderthal, Denasovian, came from Australopithecus, who left Africa a couple of million years ago... but so did we ?‍♂️ We just had to evolve different. There was an interesting article about 10 years ago from China, they were trying to prove a genetic direct link to the waves of Australopithecines and prove chinese/Asians were a seperated human species. Totally proved wrong through the genetic markers (paternal and maternal) but they did come out with some very weird results ;)

Second bit..... wtf? ??

Ah yes, the distinctive alarm call of the homo homo pygmius.

Not really  into the racial purity\arguments ,but I do find it interesting that all the NEW DNA research and discoveries ,fits the narrative of the day suspiciously neatly .

Well look into it you fkn dimwit  .

Earlier in the thread you were compared to valuev, as the opposite end of the species spectrum. We then decided you were in fact the previously undiscovered homo homo pygmius....

If we get into the nitty gritty, whether Neanderthal was a Hominid species or a Sapien sub-species is hotly contested argument. For that matter so is the actual definition of 'species'. Generally these days the production of fertile offspring isn't considered necessary.

Hell, if you really want to open a can of worms, what constitutes a life-form is up for grabs still. Viruses for example go from life to death with the scientific winds!

Where do we draw the line though?

I know we have such classifications but is there actually such a thing as a subspecies?

It's true that species have different adaptations to suit their habitat but are they really a subspecies?

You only have to look at animals like Tigers, Leopards etc.

What makes me laugh is we can readily separate animals in to subspecies when they have physical or geographic differences yet woe betide anyone who tries to do the same with humans.

Most Europeans carry 1-5% Neanderthal DNA to this day I think the percentages dictate.

Pretty much yeah. Much of the world does, with the exception of subsaharan Africans. Well they might have a trace amount.

Interesting stuff from all you folks with big brains.

Heres another question, I wonder what led each group down such different paths ?

So, your European has really taking his potential a long way and your sub Saharan African has barely changed ?

Brain size maybe?.......that bit of extra volume meant a lot ?

I wonder what it is ?

Difference is diet and need, so we're led to believe. I'm not a neurologist, as I understand it, human brains are all (roughly) the same size. Neanderthals had bigger brains ?‍♂️
