Start em early...

Do it mate, don’t expect too much at that age, they clown around and tend to listen when they want ( only going on the youngsters at training) but all on a sudden they surprise you, at the end of every session Helen gets them out to fight and the ones we all look forward to are the nippers, to seen a 5yr old go through the moves is awsome

I can’t take martial arts seriously at all as 99 percent of it is bollocks it’s something most people don’t want you to know .

most MMA clubs are a bunch of dinglers with three or four fights to there name .

muay Thai for fitness hands down , easily the best For all round work

bjj For actually rolling around

judo should be given a far higher profile imho

karate is in danger imho if collapsing in this country due to the rise of MMA clubs

kungfu and taekwindo can just f**k off

I did judo when I was in my teens, teaches you how to get hurt least when you fall over. Found it to be really good throughout my life ?

Cheers, D.

That sounds really good, imagine staggering mask first into the kerb whilst full of sherbet and knowing exactly when to roll the cheek thereby diffusing potential self inflicted gbh, vindaloo and papadoms akimbo

I've been thinking about getting my son into judo. He's just turned 4 and is now old enough to go, I was going to leave it but after looking at this thread I will enroll him if he still wants to go.

Tonight kids didn't wanna go because they were in seperate classes. When I got em there managed to get em in same class and they loved it! Hoping they stick with it.

It would've done me some good.

When I was younger I was a bit of a prick, especially when I had beer in me and I used to pick on biggest lad I could find to test myself. I used to lose....a lot but still did it week in week out.

Whether it's bollocks or not or teaches them some moves or respect or whatever. I just don't want them to make the mistakes I did and if he/she find themselves in a situation that they can handle themselves.

You might think it's bollox but 110% someone that has been taught in whatever martial art you mock from 4yr old to your age, Vs you with no training? They win every time.

Also I expect they win by disabling the threat and controlling the situation not just smashing your face into a kerb and getting a manslaughter charge.
