Meece 1,958
Hi. I've been to Turkey 3 times on annual holidays. Twice to Kushadasi and once to Side. When we were in Side I asked at the hotel about clay pigeon shooting and they asked if I wanted to shoot someone after reassuring them that I didn't want to shoot anyone they had a conversation amongst themselves and decided to call the sports federation in Ankara about it. There didn't seem to be any clay pigeon shooting available in the area but a young porter at the hotel said that there were a couple of gunshops in Manavgat which wasn't very far away. The porter drew us a street map of where to go. We found the shops which were quite interesting with the different brands of cartridges that I've never seen before. Unfortunately the people in the shop only spoke Turkish and German and I only speak English but we did have a sort of sign language conversation about hounds and the wind. I did take some pictures of the shop as a memory of the visit. What surprised me was the selection of heavy shotgun loads available there. The people there were very friendly considering that we couldn't communicate very well and I wasn't actually buying anything because I wouldn't be able to bring it back home through customs. The hotel staff told me that the previous week they had a family of arab types going down the pool slides in full black burkas shouting ALLAHU AKBAR.!! The hotel staff had to go out to the pool and tell them to stop it because it was upsetting the western guests.!!! 1 Quote Link to post
