peckerhead if you are getting £2 a rabbit skinned and gutted all day long then as its me who shoots them and its my lamp and my fuel i think ill start getting some money off you.and if thats the case why do you always say we cant get rid of any?

my mate is a butcher and says he cant sell meat i catch because it isnt checked and whatever so he cant sell it to the public??

 

so how do your butchers buy it from you?

swap them for bacon sarnies at my local butchers.....2 rabbits = 1 bacon sarnie fair deal i think

 

mind you before any of you say what if you give him 30 odd rabbits....... i usually only take them down in twos or threes, after the ferrets have been fed and what not

Evening all,

just managed to clinche a deal with my local butcher for the rabbits i get ferreting. as of today i get £1.25 per rabbit(gutted). so i don't have to fill up the freezer but ah can fill up ma wallet just wandering if anyone else has similar deals, if so with who and how much?

A local butcher will usually take a few gutless ones for£1(like Ditchshxxter says ,same as 30 yrs ago!)£1.50 skinned.If Itake in toomany I have to skin em because his "Boy" gets peed off coz it's his job to undress them and they also have a problem with waste disposal regulations (so they say anyway)with regards to the skins.

Similar deal with a farm shop/game dealer.He'll take bunnies on a Sunday and he is only a5minute drive from my mates' ferreting ground .He sells to the public&restaurant trade at £3.50 a rabbit .We get £1.50 skinned but he supplies a room to do it in ,knives,running water etc and sometimes gives us a bit of produce from the shop,has put us onto new ferreting and is a generally good bloke.Still it is about time rabbits went up !
