Recommended Posts

I've got a Collie whippet grey hound bitch and a bedlington terrier dog .just wanted to know if they had pups what people think they would be like .I'm not planning to put them together but just interested to see if anyone has had this cross or got any idea what it would like . I have seen a Collie grey X beddy whippet what was a decent dog.

I rate the collie x beddy hybrid as a hunting dog they tend not to have the draw backs most collie xs or beddy xs are renowned for I like them because there not bred for just one job an there not specialised for one Individual job there just a dog to be used

There's a guy on here that has one bred exactly that way. Can't remember his name now. Rough coated pied bitch it is, the fella also has a spayed/neutered red bull cross

.I've got one here,  13 now . Collie greyhoundxbeddlington whippet. She was a very sharp bitch in her younger days, good nose, turn on a sixpence and a very committed strike. So committed in fact I could hardley  bear to watch when the rabbit was close to cover when in pursuit. Sadley had to retire her at 5 years. Hit some sheep wire as she struck a  bolted rabbit . Broke a bone in her neck. Carried her 1.5 mile back home, she was paralyzed, vet said leave her here ,give her a week if she's not up by then she's not getting up.  Went back on day 6 , vet came out looking a bit glum, gave me the bad news, I said where is she, he said she's in that room there , as I was walking towards the door I could hear  a scratching on the door. Opened it up and she was on her feet, swaying  about like a new born calf standing for the 1st time. Vet couldn't believe it, reckon she must of heard my voice!. As she got a bit better she actually caught a,few rabbits she put out of cover on our walks with the the lurchers . I would probably have taken a litter from her except for her injury, didn't want to chance it , her not being fully fit as,it were.  Intending on a new pup early next year if I can find the right one, most likely be my last  lurched or it will probably outlast me.

shame that, what did it  not do, has she gone to a rabbit man, I gave a mate one that never made it, and made him a great dog just not a hare dog.

Its what it is mate she was a short straw she wouldn’t get involved with nothing more than rabbits an the odd big rabbit. She was a coward that had problems with shit feet I need more than that type of dog with that mind set we need to be ready for anything round here  shes now a pampered pet that’s blood will never enter the working dog world I give this bitch fair shout an time to prove me wrong she was 3 when I homed her I stopped kidding my self it’s the first dog I’ve rehomed as I have a mental contact in my head we’re a dog as a home for life with me but now my outlook has changed completely I’ve no spare space for dogs that haven’t earned there retirement on my sofa my outlook now is purely I own this type of dog as a working animal if it can’t function for my needs the space will be filled with a dog that can harsh as it sounds

I have that as well,  I did it twice both bred by others, one had a dominance thing and a mate who only keeps one dog had her, and the other was not a hare dog to the standard I keep, but did the rest so a mate had her best he ever had .
