dytkos 17,802
Last week there were signs on every other table outside my local "This table is not in use - Social Distancing" they've all gone now, all tables in use. There's an app to use for ordering food and drink, I'm not made welcome cos I won't use it, seemingly my £40 a week all year round is not as good as a tourist families £100 in one go Cheers, D.

I know quiet spots, places to fish, places to mooch, no probs there. But we all have to do a shop now and then, I'm not going into town or a pub etc it's heaving. Got my beer in "Jail Ale", do all my drinking at home. I am very lucky where I live the coast just 5 miles away and Dartmoor about the same and by christ do I appreciate it. Lots don't. Cheers Arry

Cheers Arry Sounds like you live in a lovely place Arry, when I come down I always without fail travel over the moor from Moretonhampstead over towards Tavistock and then follow the A390 into Cornwall I always say the journey is as important as the destination no M4/M5 for me. In regards to a comment Dytkos made about tables my local part of the Greene King chain had a safe table every other table they binned that off after a week I was in last night for a bit of grub taking advantage of the half price thing going on and every thing was back to normal apart from no service at the bar which has been replaced by app and table service.

I can't fathom their thought process for them to think it's acceptable . The only answer is more police that can be paid for by imposing heavy fines for the slightest of misdemeanours re litter and vandalism that's enforced to the full ' no cop outs and if you don't pay your fine doubles plus costs and if you still don't pay 6 months jail ' serving 6 months. Sounds severe ? Maybe but don't be a scruffy selfish Cnut and you have nothing to worry about . Brilliant more turkeys voting for Xmas What we need is a kick up the arse as a nation and everybody teaching their kids what's what properly. Last thing we need is more laws and fine collectors
Jonjon79 13,358
We usually head south for our holidays but, because of all the 'f**k off' signs and general pissyness from the locals over the last few months, we went north this year and, I'm glad we did We drove for 4hrs and had 10 days in the lake district. ........... the locals were all really nice and, the amount of unspoilt scenery was amazing. I was disappointed with lake Windermere - it's either got big houses with walls and fences by the shore or, it's become too commercialised and rammed with people. Coniston water is completely different - it's a lovely place to be. There were families all along the shore and enjoying the water. No litter. A nice little cafe. We had a go on the steam yacht. ............. I can't think of anything that'll tempt us to head down to Devon or Cornwall next year - not now that we know what it's like at the lakes

We had it about half and half rain and sun - we didn't mind though because there's places that you can see that far that you can actually sit and watch the weather change. ......... we loved it. Born Hunter 17,775
Best thing about the Lakes is the Fell Hounds! Scotland and the Lakes are beautiful in their own right, no doubt awe inspiring country. It just depends what you want. The South West really ticks boxes for me. Funny little thing but as I get older I prefer winter more, never thought I would wish away the sunshine but I can’t wait for the leaves to turn brown, think a combination of better clothing and empty countryside swing it for me

When I was younger I really had no love of the summer, now though I love the raging sun. And frankly a break from week in week out fieldsports. There's not a season I don't look forward to tbh. They seem to last just long enough for me to have had enough.

Honest mate I’ve always said I would move to Scotland tomorrow as I think it’s that stunning,I’m the same as you a pestie I’ve done a good bit of work up there and had a few say they have family that has moved from there to near me and I think they are mad from the views they have up there and think they are mad.But they have always said we don’t realise what we have until they move.
THE STIFFMEISTER 16,012
Ennerdale for me everytime Jon Jon. never too busy , just the right side of the Oakes for me to get to. Ullswater a close second . But in reality I actually dislike the actual lakes . Why waste the day in a que for ice creams when you can get up on those tops?
