PERCH RECORD SMASHED!

After years of waiting, the 6lb barrier has been broken with this masive record-breaking 6lb 2oz River Thames perch caught by Robert Townsend, from Banstead in Surrey.

Witnessed and weighed in a plastic bag, using Fox Digital scales, this perch has potentially smashed the previous record of 5lb 15oz, held by Les Brown.

This is the first time that a river has thrown up a perch that has the statistics to break the record.

It was caught on a gudgeon livebait, floatfished within a London marina.

Superb......what a magnificent fish.....i had always envisaged the record (if it was to be broken) come come from a commercial carp water with no pressure on the perch. Thankfully it was a river fish...

I thought it would come from the upper ouse as there are some big ones there .My best was 3LB 12oz a really nice fish I was after eels .

i caught this a few years ago. the photos doing it some favours but it was still very big.

i caught it on on one of those pen rods.

nice fish what wasthe weight? 3 1/2lb ?

i did measure it annoyingly. that sounds about right though. it was definately abit bigger than the one in the first picture on the thread .
