As it goes i did use methadone for a bit as it did take me away from having to meet dealers or anyone else from that world, but i did just feck it off and do cold turkey myself just to get it over and done with once and for all.Well done and long may it last mate

Atb I have to say, I don't feel any better now, than when I was smoking. Certainly no better off financially. I don't miss the smell of stale smoke off my clothes or in the car though. The thing I missed at the start was the early morning coffee and the first two roll ups of the day. Atb j

eastcoast 4,199
On 17/07/2020 at 17:15, eastcoast said: It's been 10 days now since I smoked a cigarette. No big deal of course and a mere 10 days does not equate to having quit for good.. But what has surprised me is how easy it has been. I have been a smoker for about 40 years and a relatively heavy smoker for some time. The last time that I bought 20 purely on a whim I also got the vape pen pictured. According to friends who "vape" there are far better makes and models out there but it only cost £12 and £3 for the liquid. It has been a seamless and painless transition from cigarettes to vape from the 1st time I used it. The 20 pack is still here but to date I have had no urge to open it which includes a good night spent with an old mate talking and drinking into the early hours. I am not trying to preach to any smokers who may read this, 40 years of others preaching to me never worked but, if you do have an inkling to quit I would recommend giving a vape a try. -+ I should have done more of a trial on this particular vape pen before recommending it. Broke 2 over the weekend. The glass "clearomisor" component is not robust. Have been replaced by a more expensive product. Still happy with vaping rather than smoking though. People have commented that it is still feeding a nicotine addiction, fair comment, but from my point of view at present it is without the tar and carbon monoxide. To date smoking has had no adverse effects on my health. I pass medical checks with flying colours. After a life time of smoking, drinking and eating whatever I please the results have always showed as heart, liver, kidneys, lungs, cholesterol etc. are damn near perfect. Apart from starting to go a bit thin on top my lifestyle choices to date have not taken a toll on my body. And I never gave a shit anyway, life is for living. Recent events have made me rethink and consider that it may be time to take better care of myself. I cannot complain. Life deals good and bad hands. For quite some time now good luck has featured more than bad. Tempting fate I know but that's the truth. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and will soon be in a position to live where I want to live and do what I want to do. But Sod's Law being Sod's Law I would not be surprised if after all these years of good health but often bad luck some smoking related problem throws a spanner in the works if I do not stop.
