Yeah, yeah ,yeah .   5 trail camera's May well disagree with me  But if Charlie is en route on a daily basis why is there any need to bait up at all.?  It's like all this whistling and shouting.. it's all  counterproductive.   Charlie has been  used to  mooching  across the field minding his own busines eating worms  beatles. It was all peaceful and quiet and now someone is spreading cat food about, whistling and shouting.  You might as well import a steel band, a troupe of dancing girls a bloke playing a trumpet and  another waving a flag.  Charlie knows that whatever is happening, it ain't normal. He is going to be more alert than usual.  Every day he learns something new.. Mainly to keep changing his activities and  being  more wary.  How many pages.?

I don’t agree with all that, I’ve been doing this a long time now and by far the most effective way to get the fox where you want it is to bait, they are a very inquisitive animal so if they get a whiff of something they will check it out, cat food is ideal because it’s small bits of smelly sh*t so they can’t just pick it up and run and if you flick it about a bit it keeps the occupied, still nothing beats a good old mouth call, baiting and digital callers take the art of foxing  out of it a bit

i do agree with shouting and whistling, this should only be done to stop a fox that’s running in, never if it’s going away

The way your going on Meece about the shouting and whistling it's like you think I was balling and screaming at it then whistling fecking dicksy at it

I shouted oui once and whistled once to try and stop it in its tracks, it didn't work, I used a mouth caller today to try and bring it into my permission. 

The cat food that was put down was to try and keep it occupied in the field if it turned up, mainly due to the horses being in the field and potentially would have got in the way of a shot. 

Stav I totally agree about baiting up, you can break the habit of the fox by baiting an area up and potentially start bring it in earlier rather than 3 in the morning, if it knows food is there it's the first place it's going to potentially going to look for food.

You do the right thing L,s a rabbit with its guts hanging out will stink to high heaven and draw them in.

Just a length of string and a peg in the ground to stop it picking up and running away and you're sorted.

Totally agree about runny stinky cat food ,brings them for a look and they cant pick it up so hang about for a sloppy chew.You,l soon get him over the fence free food is what theyre about good luck.

Cheers BC, I've got the rabbit out the freezer, hopefully it doesn't defrost to quickly and stink the van up before tomorrow  

I keep a few whole rabbits in the garage freezer for times like these when I've not had a chance to get at the hoppers.

Your talking about the biggest opportunistic animal in the UK. If he happens across a pile of dog meat, he's gonna fill his furry face before mooching off to find the next thing to put in his mouth but he will remember it was there and try his luck there again.

The other night I'd been on another perm clearing rabbits from around the out houses and a couple of ferals from the cow shed. 

Managed 5 rabbits in the space of 15 minutes. 

The next day I finished work and scattered the 5 rabbits at the stables/sheep fields and set the camera up. 

I left it for a few days and went back up today to check the camera with a few more rabbits to bait up that I keep in the freezer as a reserve. 

Now I've only seen this fox early doors 0500-0600, but thought I'd bait to see if I could get it to come in on a night. 

Checked the camera and bingo, game on, got it coming in at 2200.

Looks like I'll be sat waiting for an appearance this week

Yep, baiting in the corner were we stood and took the dog, that's where I've seen it heading on the mornings so dropped the rabbits there. So far the baits paying off.
