Flojones 2
long story short, was out walking the dogs in an area where I've never seen rabbits before bumped a thumper on horrendous ground bitch took off out out of site had a bump, knew something was wrong after a minute when she didn't return. Resulted in a nasty dislocated wrist, local vets in Ammanford don't want to know as its out their area of expertise. Can anyone point me in the right direction of good veterinary practice or bone specialist? Any help appreciated Quote Link to post

Flojones 2
Couldn't find any info on bone men in my area from the search. Going to see a chap tomorrow in Swansea, top notch osteopath but very expensive apparently. Got her on metacam but the swellings tremendous Quote Link to post
Shadow100 1,066
Phone your local greyhound track & ask them, they’ll put you on to someone. For a dislocated wrist though I’d find the best running dog vet you can and travel wherever you need to, if it becomes an on going problem that’ll be the end of your dogs serious running career. Luckee legs 483
Best of luck with rehab. If you've not had a dog with an injury like this before, From personal experience its critical to stick to the advice of no off lead antics; even in the garden. Its boring for both of you and really takes min 4 weeks to up to 12 weeks if there is serious ligament damage in the dislocation Quote Link to post
sandymere 8,263
Phone local track as advised above or ask your own vet who they recommend as an orthopaedic specialist vet local to you. Quote Link to post
Flojones 2
Thanks for the input all. I did try calling the local track but due to the current Covid situation was unable to make contact. Since then she's been booked in for surgery with a practice in mid Wales highly recommend by a local fellow Lurcherman. Time will be taken in recovery, luckily being involved with horses we know a couple of good physios that have already offered to aid with the rehabilitation. 2 Quote Link to post
