Shot this buck the other morning, 25/20 .6 sumekie and 8mm steel. I can comfortably hit a bottle top at 20 yrd so shot placement wasn’t a issue, I hit him and he did the usual summersault but to tell the truth I feel more comfortable killing with bigger ammo. It was a clean pass through but it will be my last hunt with 8mm.

Up to now with 8mm I’ve tried sheshou .75, gzk green .66, gzk black cold band .58.

First time I used the cold black gzk .58 I noticed a split in the middle of the band and I couldn’t have had more than 30 balls through it, so I stopped using it for a while. I have been using the black a while now and I think it’s the toughest band out of the gzk colours,I haven’t had a piece split down the centre since but keep checking.

Anyway for the 8mm, at 18/13 taper I find the black  gzk .58 to be the best I’ve tried. I’m only hurting trees and  branches at the minute, but did take a rabbit not too long back. I’m getting too bloody soft.
