BenBhoy 4,706
Evening all I'm picking up a 20 hushpower mossberg in couple weeks. Can anyone with hushpower experience tell me if the subsonic carts are worth it? Are they noticeable quieter thsn standard carts? Any recommendation appreciated ta Quote Link to post
terryd 8,503
I have a 20g fully shrouded hush and I would say yes 1 Quote Link to post
Sausagedog 7,381
But don't sweat over it Ben. Normal will be a lot quieter any way. 1 Quote Link to post

bumpy22 414
Got one ben. Great tool use mine a fair bit from foxes to crows. Subs are quieter but as said earlier a lot dearer. 1 Quote Link to post
ianm 2,594
Having used both 410 and 12 bore moderated shotguns i would strongly advise the use of normal cartridges. The reason for this is two fold, (A) there is very little difference in sound reduction and (B) the velocity of the cartridges is so low due to being subsonic you have to increase lead by quite a margin. 4 Quote Link to post
BenBhoy 4,706
Will probably get slab of normal & maybe 50 subs. Few people have told me the lack of speed they've found they visibly hitting crows at 30yds and they just strolling on... 1 Quote Link to post
Sausagedog 7,381
I was using some old eley fourlong 410 from my modded Baikal and they were clearly subsonic. Pellets were connecting but the birds free on unless under 15y. With normal power loads they came down. You hear of lads using #5 shot. This is to compensate I believe but at the sacrifice of pattern. 2 Quote Link to post

philpot 5,005
Might be worth talking to York Guns Ben as they are quite big into Hushpower type guns AND ammo. I know they have some Cheddite specialist sub cartridges in .410 so they may also do something in 20 gauge as well. worth a call anyway. Phil 1 Quote Link to post
