Arry 21,773
Help please Lads, my 40 ish year old Nephew wants to take his lads sea fishing, he lives in the Bristol area. His lads are 9 and 7 both as keen as hell, they have fairly light gear flounder rods I let them have. I'm from South Devon so know little about this area having only ventured up that way after Cod. Somewhere where they might catch Flounders, School Bass bits and pieces. Any help that I could pass on would be appreciated. They were asking about a mark near Weston- Supper - Mare but looks like a Cod or Thornback sort of mark., don't think its for them but don't really know. Cheers Arry Quote Link to post

Arry 21,773
Thanks mate, just want to encourage them they are great little lads. Cheers Arry Quote Link to post
ollieollie 766
That’s the problem being young. Difficult place to fish the BC if your under gunned and packing kids. Id get them on the south coast with you mate!! 2 Quote Link to post
Arry 21,773
Yeah they want to but only down here every now and again, then its down to tides and weather you know what its like. Recon them flounder rods are 3 to 4oz casting was hoping there was somewhere, maybe creeks somewhere. I know the tides are so big though. Hard trying to advise from a distance. ollieollie 766
Maybe clevedon pier or one of the sea walls although no strictly Weston it’d e safer I fish the BC more than anywhere else. It’s unbelievable the sheer amount of water that comes thundering in. I use 6oz grip leads as standard or heavier if required. 1 Quote Link to post
Arry 21,773
Yeah I know mate used to fish for Cod and Thornbacks and further down for Blonde Ray and Smalleyed ray. I don't know enough about it up there to be honest. Cheers Arry Quote Link to post
South hams hunter 8,921
The mouth of the axe at uphill beach is meant to hold bass, flounder and mullet. Never fished it but on Google it looks like a spot that'd be easy enough over the top of the tide 1 Quote Link to post
TRUEBRIT66 1,525
Portishead marina, nice comfortable setting chance of a few and a tackle shop 2 min walk away and if the goings slow do a bit of crabbing. As others have pointed out the BC is not the place to start kids on. 2 1 Quote Link to post
