Wolfdog91 7,005
Any you guys happen to have any catfish specific boile recipes your willing to share ? I seems most of the catfishing you guys do is with those halibut pellets so was curious if you use boile's for catfish at all. Quote Link to post
Daniel cain 45,270
I would of thought anything fishy would work to catch catfish, lamprey, salmon oil, krill, crab and mussel concentrated flavourings, just add to a standard bollie mix.... Or just glug your shop bought ones for an edge.....few of us been using this stuff for a few seasons on the rivers.... Almost every hook up is to the glugged pellet/bollies.... Don't seem to want standard baits anymore Catfish feed by smell so, you ever thought of soaking a piece of sponge in a feeder using a glug or concentrated liquid?? Draw them in to the smell and when they arrive it's only your hook bait there 2 Quote Link to post

Seems to be the same in alot if the public places I fish . Just about everyone and their mom wants to catfish around this time of the year so they go to Walmart and get every stink bait and punch bait you can name . Got Everything from catapla worm flavor to beef heart l,iver and cheese and shad blood. Seems after seeing so much of it alot of these public water cats just pain aren't interested. And actually the whole sponge deal is a super common deal here. Most basic form is a piece of sponge on a treble hook that's punched into some paste style bait. Quote Link to post
Nicepix 5,650
Buy a couple of pounds of rough pork mince, add around 8oz of dried bread crumbs, knead the mixture well and leave for half an hour to allow the bread to soak up the moisture then roll some balls. Heat up an oven to 180C then put the balls in the oven on a raised grill to allow the liquid to drain, for around 45 minutes then take them out and allow them to cool. You can freeze whatever you don't use. For carp and barbel I add smoked paprika powder and use sieved maize meal and crushed hemp instead of breadcrumbs. For catfish I'd just keep it simple and make the balls twice the size. . 3 Quote Link to post

Difference is I use breadcrumbs, chopped onion, garlic & peppers and add more smoked paprika, hot chilli powder and salt. Then make a tomato sauce using chorizo, bacon lardons, onions, garlic, smoked paprika and add some white beans. That is a lot tastier than the fishing bait. 1 Quote Link to post
