kanny 20,542
I've decided to take the plunge and go for a baitcaster reel for my heavier lure fishing, I don't want to break the bank just something mid range would do , I don't know much about them to be honest ive always used fixed spools. I've been looking at the abu pro max 3 any thoughts or other recommendations? I'll also be looking for a new rod to put it on ,something capable of handling heavy stuff again I don't want to break the bank I was looking at one by fox but can't remember the exact model I'll look later after work, again any recommendations Cheers Quote Link to post
neil r 1,858
I’m not keen on Abu , much prefer shimano . I’ve had various c3 & c4’s all Swedish ones including the black jerkbait edition and they were nothing special tbh they were a bit agricultural .The reels I had on my big setups were the corvalus 401 for the really big 6-12oz stuff and the 401 Cardiff for the average 3-5oz heavy lures . They are round profile reels but bombproof and not that expensive . They do low profile ones aswell if you prefer that style . I’ve had fox , daiwa , savage gear , ET , greys and cortland jerkbait rods and they were all alright , I’ve actually still got a fox warrior jerkbait rod . If I had to choose I’d pick the cortland musky jerkbait rod again if I could find actually another one or failing that the daiwa whisker as a close second . 1 Quote Link to post
kanny 20,542
Well I've just ordered a 8ft3 150g Savage Gear XLNT3 Trigger Rod Jerkbait And after much research I've gone for a piscifun torrent reel its budget but I've heard nothing but good things about them...we'll see 1 Quote Link to post
