Plenty of dogs can look the part when the game is there, not quite as good when there's less on the ground and they're used to being hunted.

At the same time tho alot of dogs look keen when they aint seeing much but when they gotta do more than a couple a week they dont look half as good. That dog that wants it will go off abd find it if its there to be found
