poxon 5,801
I Think the answer to the question is if your not happy don’t buy it’s that simple really but don’t moan later on if you feel later on you missed the perfect opportunity after buying in something that was talked up to sell or peddler bred that didn’t make requirements .I think that’s one of the reasons I like to breed my own Stuff now when I need replacements bred for my needs alone an what I expect out of a dog not everyone else’s Needs or to please the crowd of talkers of there needs I simply offer a couple of pups for sale to recoup rearing cost with no guarantees of nothing the odds are always 50/50 an luck of the straw picked 1 Quote Link to post
Shadow100 1,066
f**k buying in off strangers these days tbh, I’d honestly rather go to a rescue centre and take a punt on a young lurcher than buy a pup off 99% of dog men. Saw a young bitch for sale yesterday for £1500 and the mother’s a known jacker. A well known coursing man bred 2 litters out of a known jacker, sold them for £500 then sold the bitch on ffs it’s a minefield. Dogs up for stud for a grand that’s never done a full season the list goes on Edited June 30, 2020 by Shadow100 Quote Link to post

lurchers 2,917
I’ve never lied about a dog and never will as you would only get found out anyway,That’s whey I’m fussy at buying a dog in even though I wouldn’t thank ya for another lurcher most of them don’t even know what’s in the cross anyway. But I would only buy from lads I know and dogs I know.If I wanted a pup now I would be up Scotland for one of northerlites mate beddy greys as they did what they said on the tin. 1 Quote Link to post

Expand You’re in the minority mate most dog men can’t speak about their dogs without telling lies, I’ve had first hand experience of myself & mates getting pups off strangers in the past and it always comes out later that the parents aren’t what they were made out to be. They might not necessarily be a load of shit but they won’t be what the breeder made out when he was trying to get your money off you that’s a guarantee. Quote Link to post
Daniel cain 46,612
If they're shit, then don't breed off them, or roll them in a hole.... I've payed for stuff that been no good and knocked them on the head few weeks later, no different to paying for a dog and losing it on the first night lampingget back out to work and buy another.... Some folks begrudge paying for stuff so want their money back.... Always been the case with the runners, and know its the norm with alot of the younger lads into the terriers... 1 Quote Link to post
poxon 5,801
Most people are to lazy to go have a look at a litter no ones forcing them to buy nothing I’ve alway found it’s better face to face with the breeder of the pups To discusses things or see photos of work rather than just expect them to send you photos they don’t know you from the next man an you can judge character the most genuine people I’ve found are not people who continually remind people they only keep good dogs over the Internet they just use there dogs an fancy a pup out of them Quote Link to post

Expand Do you think it’s the fact that people don’t like parting with their money, or maybe they don’t like parting with money and later feeling like they’ve been lied to and ripped off? I’m not tight in the slightest with money but if I bought a pup then found out the breeder had been lying about the parents capabilities I’d be annoyed whether it was £10 or £1000 Quote Link to post

Especially with the runners... If they bought into the clic, fancy names etc, then they want their money back regardless even if the dogs turn out to be dirt.... 2 Quote Link to post

Expand I picked you up wrong, I didn’t realise you meant get their money back by breeding, I thought you meant they wanted an actual refund from the breeder Youre right without a doubt, so many dogs get bred these days just because they’ve got bulldozer, romeo, Lucas etc in their pedigree no matter if they’re any good or not it’s a shame. Loton Moocher 1,255
I think alot seem to forget no pup comes with a magic wand weather you get it free or pay £1000 for it, you will only get out what you put in ? I admit to being one of the biggest critics of hancocks dogs yet seen one a few days ago that i was well impressed with ? But then again the lad has put alot of time in with it ? As others av said do your homework before you. Buy or simply breed your own and put the work in with it ? The the only one to. Blame if it goes wrong is yourself 2 Quote Link to post

Blame if it goes wrong is yourself Expand Good post apart from your last statement, no matter how good a dog man you are & how much work you put in, you can’t make a silk purse out of a pigs ear, if a dogs no good it’s no good. If you keep a decent standard and don’t budge from it you’ll get failures, it’s what you do with them that matters. A lot of men will just lie about it and say the dogs class when it’s not, make every excuse they can think of for a bad performance, this gives the impression that these men must be top class with dogs cause they never get failures but really they’re just full of shit Edited June 30, 2020 by Shadow100 Quote Link to post

Expand You could have a top class bitch done 5/6 hard seasons, and a dog the same quality & the 2 of them together could produce rubbish, nobody can predict breeding, if we could then we’d all have superstars. You can stack the odds in your favour but if you expect a lot of your dogs you’ll get some that can’t hack it, just the way it goes 2 Quote Link to post
