i think its how much you value coursing not the dog itself , and it depends on how well you want to do , so if you want to be in with the big boys and match all the time and you aint got a dog , then it cost a lot to be in with the best , and if its really good then you probly win it back and then some

buy a well bred pup say £500 and then all the time spent feeding and training it , how much does the dog stand you to in the end up at say 2 years old ? , quite a lot and if its good or bad it still costs ther same

so it stands to reason to give a couple of grand for a good dog , id personally pay good money for something i like a lot

but each to there own

Tyson, so for some its not about the dog its about the gambling? similar thing to greyhounds really.

maybe for some , but for me its the coursing , i just like to watch good dogs run , its a pleasure cos really good coursing dogs are few and far between

ive been down the fens the past few times to watch wolfie run as my own 2 are injured , and its a 3 hour drive there and 3 hours back

but it doesent bother me cos i know im going to see a really class dog run

but its even better to watch your own dog run well

Thanks everyone for all your comments its been a cracking read, i can well understand the gambling side of the dog game because of the money that changes hands,,,one day i may drift towards a coursing dog,,but at the moment im happy with my lurchers and watching them run is a total joy for me and if they catch what they chase its a bonus :clapper:

ALRIGHT PEOPLE,,,i was havin a bit chin wag with my mate tonight and he was on about the price of lurchers and coursing dogs,,i have had lurchers for a while know and only ever paid £100 for my dogs not that i wouldnt pay more i just knew the people who bred them..ive never had an all out coursing dog only what i call allrounders which i may add caught hares and other big stuff pre ban...anyway,,the conversation drifted into the price of quality coursing dogs to which we`ve both heard of people paying for thousands for well bred uns..so,my question is! how much would or have you paid for your dogs.? and have dogs you have paid good money for failed to perform,,,

cheers
