It's connected well with a couple of items and in this wind we have just now. It is I think with my atec muffler on as quiet if not quieter than my unmodded 22 with HV ammo. It certainly is safer. The stock is made of pallet wood by the looks but it's looking better as the true builds up on it. I'm wanting better glass now but want it for nothing! I wish you could get a fixed 7x. Any ideas on good glass that ain't going to fleece me? https://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/topic/403085-clear-out-scopes/ 1 Quote Link to post

BenBhoy 4,706
Don't blame you mate, some real stuck up cun*s on there. The for sale sections are useful though. But the fixed x7 has just gone anyway. 1 Quote Link to post

Sausagedog 7,381
Fairweather went through some more trials this weekend. Went onto the Winchester 20g ammo. Everything was going well except for misfires! To many for half a box, five so far! Shame really otherwise I would if been tempted to stick with them. I did take a crow at something like 170yards with one and a rabbit at 100ish with just it's head showing. However, with the miss fires I won't bother again! Hornady 20g up next. 1 Quote Link to post

I was advised that the Hornady 20g was by far the best ammo in that weight and to be very honest, I would sell my guns if I had to use bloody Winchester as I find them to be very inconsistant in both wmr and lr versions. I will be very interested to hear how you go on with the Hornady SD..................................................I am also having a bit of an itch regarding hmr which may need to be scratched if the itch doesn't go away Phil 2 Quote Link to post

I like the idea of 20g HMR loadings. I know everyone says it doesn't expand the same but I'm ok with that. I want to know I'm getting full penetration, preferably two holes. I don't care if stuff runs a little, if I have raked it's middle it's going to die. In calling this rifle Fairweather it's not strictly fair. It's still better than LR in wind. In fact the only place so far I have cause for complaint is that the slightest whisp of foliage knackers the bullets path. Ok, that happens with any small calibre but it is very apparent with a .17". Regards ammo costs compared to 22 it's not so bad considering most my 22 ammo went in plinking etc so it's probably balancing out..... 1 Quote Link to post

I do like that bloody gun though Si. I am taking Trish's new gun out for a test this afternoon. Phil 1 Quote Link to post

Hitting the knob next to me squarely in his lug hole whilst he is stood there in his clay cartridge vest holding his Krieghoff. Oh the sheer joy of it! 6 Quote Link to post

Sausagedog 7,381
Fairweather did ok today. Nothing fancy. Just a 100yd crow and another about 75yds. Bearing in mind this rifle has replaced my unsilenced 22 it's making easy work of what would of been an hour's stroll with the 22! The Winchester 20gn ammo was used. 6 Quote Link to post
