My lads big Deerhoundy is going over his wheaten lurcher this time around, the Deehoundy as been asked to cover several Bull bred lurcher bitches and ive advised against it,the amount of times Bull bred lurcher owners want more from what the cross gives them?.He will put him over his Wheaten lurcher as the Wheaten offers far more, far more often and without the assistance the Bull lurchers are often wanting. Both Wheaten and Bull lack pace and gears, the Wheaten as more nose and nous than the Bull lurcher.I don,t believe ive ever witnessed a lurcher as useless as the straight Bull bred uns, they are one trick pony,s,good at drove to,dug to,teeth,4th rate at lurcher work.

Some amazing levels of utter drivel on this forum. You sound like a clueless kid and you’re not a kid so that’s a bit worrying......

Ok, I’m not usually into long winded stuff on here, but I’ll break it down.

“The wheaten offers far more, far more often, and without the assistance the bull Lurchers are often wanting” - what does this even mean?

Im not sure we are talking about 1st x bull greys and wheaten greys here? But even if we were, can you tell me how a 1st x wheaten grey is so so much better than a 1st x bull grey? What’s the more that it offers so many times???? All I can see is a better coat if I’m honest and most 1st x wheaten Xs are smaller and less athletic than a 1st x bull grey ...... so that kind of knocks the point into a cocked hat anyway.

Wheaten Xs and wheaten based Lurchers have far more nose and intelligence than bull Xs and bull x Lurchers - really? I’m fairly sure bulls are pretty smart dogs and have a pretty good nose .....and I’m not sure wheatens are famed for having superior noses and intelligence? And I think there are probably plenty of folk on here who have a Lurcher with bull blood that has a good nose and hunts in the day..... mine does. And she’s a pretty smart cookie to.

Toward the end we start talking ‘straight bull bred uns’ - now are we talking 1st Xs? Are we talking any half x including line bred? Are 3/4 grey 1/4 bull included? What about line bred bull greys up unspecified %? Apparently all of the above are one trick ponies only of any use on teeth and only of any use if you run down your quarry in a vehicle or want it yanked from a hole ........ now I havnt seen hundreds of bull Xs but I’ve seen enough who could run well and were used on a range of edible quarry as well as teeth.

Ive seen them ferreting, seen them take deer day and night (pre ban) of most species, lamping rabbits, day time mooching and catching day time rabbits in the dales etc. I’ve even seen a 5/8 bull 3/8 grey catch a daytime hare on big land in January single handed (and retrieve it to her owner) and on the same day retrieve shot partridge on a driven day on a large shooting estate.

Yer mate all bull x are useless one trick ponies, wheaten Xs are all better and the best is a deerhound x.

Does that adequately explain why I called it utter drivel ?

I know. I try not to bite normally ? but sometimes you just gotta ....

I've tried to understand his posts quite often, but, I admit, nope, can't! ?.

I mean, he loves beddys, but today's beddys are 'dross', 'shite', 'not worth breeding from', unless they're bred from his dogs! And he only keeps beddys with fell blood in now, because they suit him and what he expects of a working terrier. But fells/lakies/pats, are 'inferior' to a good beddy?! ?.

What am I missing about what he writes? I certainly am NOT thick, but I really can't fathom what he's trying to get over to people in his posts! ?

I owned a little bullx bitch that could lift rabbits on the lamp by the sack full. I've owned wheaten xs that could do the same.

So what are you waffling about.

Ill tell you what hes waffling about, hes just never seen proper bred Wheaten or bull xs ive also seen the same... half xs even working a hard night on good land and lifting plenty 3 nights a week way maybe 2 to 3 days digging in same week week in week out during a season. proper bred strong dogs arent feking silly or blow out  ... I laugh at some of the remarks on here regarding especially Wheaten xs...  and when you ask them what way was the Wheaten bred and pure silence lol... 3 quarter of the proper working strong dogs came out of Northern Ireland and the other quarter came from the Republic of Ireland only Wheaten most of these boys seen was wheaton scone.

If you running post stamp sized fields you might get 2/3 nights lamping and digging inbetween from a first cross bull grey but I couldn’t mate

No matter how strong your half cross is id show it cramping after one outing lol atb
