Well it had to happen . Slinky 2 is no more . Well I hope it’s slinky 2 because I’m done with that place . Two fruitless visits over the weekend and I’d almost resigned myself to not shooting it .

Last weekend I was having a natter to a couple I know outside my house and gave them some eggs . The conversation turned to where I got the eggs and I explained that I shoot foxes on a farm that produ

Full of renewed hope and optimism I arrived at the small holding to finish a job that has been dragging on longer than is should have . I had my plan of where I was going to hide , this time with a sh

Managed three last night after chickens and ducks had been taken. Baited up one spot with dog biscuits the night before and sat in the truck with mighty hmr and pard 008.

Cracking result, you can’t beat the hmr for some close quarter fox action, I like them that much I’ve just treated my spare cz to a new second hand scope, quick zero hopefully tomorrow and away we go ?

I shoot as many with mine as I do 243 and I shoot a couple each year

I’ve shot a lot of foxes with the .17, I bought a browning T bolt first on a bit of a whim, I’d just got shot of a tikka T3 varmint barrel .243 because it was just to heavy to carry around and I’d been out with a lad that had a .17, I was amazed at how far he was shooting rabbits with it, I had a go and instantly wanted it and a couple of years ago a keeper I knew was changing career and offered me the cz, gun cabinet, 400 rounds, 600 cartridges and a box full of bits and bobs for £250 so I thought I might as well have 2 and replaced the .243 with a T3x light ?

Shot barrel out on my old T3 in 243 a few years ago upgraded to a Sauer 404 which is great. I do a lot of fox control on varied ground from daytime calling with 20g hushpower to NV and thermal in dedicated fox boxes. But I find my little t1x with pard 008 so handy when kept to sensible range. Makes for ideal tool on some of the smaller permissions. It has its limitations and does not do what my 85gn homeloads do. but will humanely kill foxes when shot correctly.

Don't talk to me about dog biscuits etc. Bought the dog a nice marrowbone. Cost me £2.50. Gave it to the dog. He stripped it back to just marrow, left it in the yard, gone this morning. I bet the bones on Usain Bolt don't disappear that fast! Suspect has to be Charlie as he's previously been sighted in the area. ?

Looks like you popped on a MTC Mamba scope on your hmr Stav.  Nice reticle but I find them to flare out white when in changing light.  Still got one left mind.

Yeah, it’s the 4-16x50, they are terrible as the light changes, but once it’s dark they are a cracking little scope to use on the lamp, this one has the illuminated reticle that works well on the lowest setting, if you turn it up it reds everything out
