Test curve to rod action conversion?

You have no idea how that fish was lost. It could have been a dodgy knot or the line being cut on something sharp.

No one is advocating 1lb tc for this situation. But I know from my own experience of fishing for wild, uncaught carp a lot bigger than the 15lb fish he expects that a rod of 2lb tc or less is ample, probably 1.5lb tc would be ideal.

Regards the situation in France; there are catfish in my area of 100lb or more. They will take baits set out for barbel and carp what is JDHunting advocating; we all fish with 6lb tc rods and 100lb line for barbel just in case a catfish comes along? Bear in mind that most of the barbel are 3lb or less and most carp I catch on quiver gear are mid teens to mid twenties. So I set out my tackle for the species and size I expect to encounter and if a really big catfish comes along I just accept the inevitable break of the hook link.

It was lost because of inadequate tackle if it was caught in something sharp it was still lost because of inadequate tackle as a thicker line and a sliding float would have stopped it snapping or getting caught in the first place. And the rest of it you pretty much saying what I'm saying so I don't know were you think I'm advocating 6lb TC rods for barbel?. And thanks for confirming what I already know if you catch a catfish on light gear a broken line is nearly inevitable hence if you were targeting large catfish you wouldn't use it.

Anyone can wind a hooked fish in its not really skillful at all and anyone whose grown up tenching on float gear or similar will quickly learn to tread carefully to land a powerful fish on light gear as I said it's pretty simple my (at the time) 4 year old lad managed  it just fine it's reading the water, finding the fish and getting them to fall for the trap were the experience comes in and the heavier your tackle the harder that is.

Little lads first fish when he was 4, and first trout not long after he reeled them in himself on a little 9ft light feeder, I rigged them up and cast them out for him?

Don't waste your time sat in front of rods?you yanks are the masters of easiness..... ?Just shoot the cnuts with a bow and line or your AR??

Varies from state to state. That's all the same place and you can fish rivers and reservoir. Even ice fish it in the winter. Few hours west from @Wolfdog91 but whatever you want to fish, you can.

11ft 2lb 25lb uncaught river beastie enjoy the fight, ??

You are talking bollox. You have no idea how that pike was lost and claiming that heavier line won't snap against a snag is bullshit.

You advocate using 3lb tc rods for carp that only run to 15lb and justify it by 100lb catfish breaking 4lb hook lengths designed for small barbel. And then claim that I am agreeing with you. Total and utter bollox.

Doesn't make sense but if you want to fish using gear that might, one day  land your fish of a lifetime even though it is totally over gunned for what you normally catch then go ahead.

? Ok. I answered the OP who said the fish average 15lb-15lb I'm guessing the the second figure was a typo and was meant to be 25lb so if that's the average stamp then God knows what the upper limit is 50lb? So a thicker line doesn't have better abrasion resistance huh I guess there must of been millions of us doing it wrong all this time who'd have thought. And finally and most importantly I made it clear my advice was my opinion unlike you who came charging in telling everyone there wrong and your right and you should target catfish with 14-20g spinning rods like it's proven science and anything else is wrong. Oh and recommending a cane rod to a yank with the best and cheapest tackle shops in the world to catch wild carp in a place as big and rugged as North America?? good advice.

And go on then you tell me what the possible scenarios for a gut hooked pike with about 8lb line sticking out its gob are? The line snapped above the mouth so it wasn't bitten off. Theres either cracked off on the cast, got caught on the rocky drop off or he cranked his clutch up to high all of which would be solved with heavier line.
